Thanks, everyone...

A little about me...

I am a wedding/portrait photographer. I moved to Hilton Head in 2006, and saw the big red and white Christmas Tree ornament in Harbour Town, and was somewhat intrigued by it. I still didn't get into them though. I then took a job doing photography and selling photo CDs on a sailboat cruise (Stars and Stripes) and saw the Haig Point lighthouse, and was a little more intrigued, but still not hooked like I am now. I had seen the Tybee light off in the distance, and took a boat ride to see it. That hooked me. I loved it, and lighthouses became a minor obsession. I got photos of it, as well as Cockspur. Then, the Hilton Head Rear Range and Hunting Island lights.

I have since met a lighthouse fanatic of the female gender, and we have taken several road trips to several lighthouses, and are planning on doing the North Carolina lights in 3 weeks.

Scorecard:

Georgia:
Cockspur Island
Tybee Island
Savannah Harbor
St. Simons

South Carolina:
Harbour Town
Hilton Head Rear Range
Haig Point
Morris Island
Sullivan's Island
Hunting Island
Governor's

Florida:
Amelia Island
St. John's River
Ponce Inlet
St. Augustine

I chose Tybee_Sullivan as my name because I did my best photography at those two lighthouses.

I will post a thread about our travels with pics soon.

^^^

I had been looking for a forum like this for a while. I'm a member of other forums, and had posted photos of lighthouses, and people showed about as much intrest to lighthouses as I would show in a thread about video games. Also, people in person kind of reacted to my photos like I react when someone whips out photos of the kids.

But, I work in a camera store on Hilton Head, and whenever tourists ask me about things to see, I always ask if they are into lighthouses. If they say yes, I tell them about Haig Point, Tybee, Hunting, and the Hilton Head Rear Range light.

Anyway, I love the forum, and will continue to post photos, and the stories. If anything, the lighthouse trips really brought Megan and I together in a way I've never experienced before. Its as if this is our project, and there will always be trips to look forward to, not to mention the past trips to look back and reflect on.

Posting photos makes a thread extremely interesting. If you've been following the action here, you probably already seen numerous pics including some super aerial shots. Trust me when I say we all love to look at pictures. Keep'em coming, Bill!

Welcome Tybee Sullivan

Can I suggest a trip to Michigan and the Great Lakes area? Fresh water to frolic in on sandy beaches and oodles of lighthouses to visit and photograph, especially in Michigan the home of more lights than any other state.
