Anybody know of online sites that spell out initials used in nautical terms--i.e., WLV, WAL, etc.?

Thanks,
Sandy

Thanks for the leads Daniel, but neither one gave me the definition. I've tried nautical terms, coast guard terms and similar titles without success. Would think somebody would have listed a place where the meaning of initials would be spelled out, especially as the initials relate to something nautical.

Stan has a copy of the Navy's "Bluejackets' Manual" that gives definitions of naval terms, but I can't find anything on the internet and don't know where to begin a search other than using the terms I've already used.

Good Luck.

Sandy - If you're looking for Military accronyms, google on US Navy, USCG, miltary accronyms or abbreviations. If your looking for US Navy or USCG ship designations, google on US Navy or USCG vessel abbreviations or designations. The term WLV or WAL stands for light Vessels and these were assigned depending on the time frame they were active. Modern days abbreviations such as WHEC(High Endurance Cutter), WMEC(Mediun Endurance Cutter), WPB(Patrol Craft) etc. can be found at the Vessel Desination site and at this site there is a link for light vessel designations.

Thanks everyone.

Got this link from Judy (Bill and Judy) today and a similar assist from Hal Dean last night:

P.S. Does anyone know where Stan put both bags of dog treats?
