Hello everyone! I'm a new Forum member; I've been lurking around off and on for awhile, and have decided to make it official. I live in Indiana, not far from Lake Michigan's southern tip. In fact, my special interest is collecting Great Lakes Harbor lights pieces. I've recently decided to limit myself to just the Lake Michigan lights, even though I have several pieces from the other Great Lakes.

Due to some unforeseen financial circumstances, I have to cut back my spending on lighthouse. I am also interested in selling off some of my pieces. Is this a good place to sell Harbor Lights pieces? I know that I have seen several pieces advertised for sale, but I'm not sure if they are being bought up by members. Any advice or commentary on this?

How do I go about selling any of my HL pieces on this Forum? Thanks in advance for any responses! I'm glad to finally join up!

Welcome Terry; glad you joined us. Quite a few other Indianans on board.

The Marketplace Forum is an excellent place to sell your extras from what I've heard. If there are Lake Michigan lighthouses that you are missing, perhaps you can try for a trade with someone.

Just remember all buy/sell/trade/wanted postings must be in the Marketplace Forum. Got to that forum, and next to the little mailbox, click on the link to the Rules.

Welcome, Terry. You join several other folks from the Region her in the Forums. You might also check the Clubs Forum - our club, the Hoosier Lighthousing Club, will be having a workday(s) at the Old Michigan City Light on May 4th and 5th, and you are welcome to join us if you would like. We will also be there in June for a picnic.

John - Indianans?????? That's about as bad as the HL office and their who-she-ers.

Dave, thanks a lot for the info and the invitation! I visited the Old Michigan City lighthouse for the first time last summer, and really enjoyed it. That HL piece is the most recent I have acquired, and I love it.

I will put the workday(s) on my calendar, and will try to make it out. Thanks again!!

Terry,

I too wish to welcome you to the forums. I have a lot of friends in Indiana, Many in your area. We even have a work group dorm here at the mission I work at called the Hoosier Dorm. Indiana churches built it.

Glad you decided to join in. We all look forward to your input. Everyone's opinions are respected and welcome. So please don't hesitate to chime in on any of the forums.

I have sold several of my extra HL's from the Marketplace Forum. Every sale, trade and purchase I have been involved with went great. Never a single problem. As John said you may find someone has listed a piece you still need. Trades have helped my collection out and so far everyone has been great. Once again, welcome and we look forward to hearing from you.

I am kinda new here also and only recently became a wacko, 50 posts! If I had any advice to give it would be, Don't be afraid to jump in on any subject. This is a great place to learn and pickup pieces that you are missing in your collection. I have had the pleasure of buying several pieces from listings in the Market Place. They have always been top quality at or below fair market value. I can't wait to meet everyone at a regional and actually start putting faces to these names. If your want to start that process just go to the Me&Bill section of the HL web page. Good luck and happy posting

Chuck

Welcome, Terry... Although I don't live in Indiana, I'm only 30 miles north of the border in Kalamazoo. If you get up to the Michigan lights, be sure and let me know if you'd like to get together to do some photography.

Welcome to the Collector Forums, Terry. Glad to see someone from a "home body of water" though not the same state. I was born and lived in Wisconsin for many years, only 2 miles from the Lake Michigan shoreline. If you haven't been up there yet, Wisconsin has a lot of nice lightouses, especially Wind Point Light in Racine and Cana Island in Door County, both tall white towers and very photogenic.

You might write to St. John Chidester and ask him about the itinerary for the lighthouse Outing before or after the Rosemont Collectible Show near O"Hara airport outside Chicago. I have read that they will be visiting MI and/or WI lights. A good way to meet some of the really enthusiastic collectors.

Don't forget -- those beautiful lighthouses won't be around forever, if they are not taken care of. Many members here on the Forums are helping to raise money to donate to needy lighthouses through various projects.

I would appreciate your looking at the project that I spearhead, called the Wacko Pin, which this year is donating the pin sale proceeds to SE Block Island Light of R.I. You can read all about it at our webpage and on the forums for Club News, and Lighthouse Preservation.

Click onto
http://home.att.net/~wackopin/

And also go to the General Forum and look for Dave Hannum's post on his lanyard and wacko name badge sales, yet another way that money is being raised for SE Light.
