Hello everyone - It's so wonderful to find a whole site dedicated to Lighthouses. I must admit the US and Canada both have far more coastline then we here -however the UK & Ireland have their fair share of some beautiful specimens! I was lucky enough to get out To Mizen head (Ireland) to see Fastnet Rock which is a wonderful example -you may have heard of of it.
I am slowly building up my collection of models and when I was in the US last year I found a lovely tapestry which has 3 New England lights on it. They are Boston Light, Cape Neddick and Barnegat. Perhaps someone out there has seen them in person. It would be lovely to hear from you fellow light-lovers.

Regards from across the Ocean.

Hi Fiona, and welcome aboard the Collector Forums.

You mentioned my favorite lighthouse, Cape Neddick, or as it is more commonly called, Nubble. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to speak up. We would love to hear from you. Take care!

Welcome aboard Fiona,

One of my favorite lights and one I have visted several times is Barnegat, New Jersey. The light is a great one to climb and the sunsets there are absolutely breathtaking. You will have to vist it sometime you are in the US.

Altho' I have been in your country many times, I was not a lighthouse wacko then and now would like to return to see some of the ones that grace the coastline.

You will feel very welcome here. We are a great group of lighthouse lovers.

Welcome Finoa...

...Glad you joined us and we look forward to input from our new 'UK Correspondent'.

Maybe you could look around some of the gift shops there for Pharos Collection pieces?

Not sure about the time differences, but we'd love to have you join us at a future chat.

Welcome and glad to have ya join in with us. If you love lighthouses as much as we do, you'll keep coming back.
Hey John. About the time factor...If I'm not mistaken, I have a friend in UK that I play LinksLS(golf) online with and he is 5 hours ahead of EST.
So if the chats start at 9 EST then Fiona will have to stay up two hours past midnight. Maybe she's a nightowl and that won't be a problem

Welcome Fiona! You will love the forum. Lots of nice folks here. I have been to Boston Light and saw Cape Neddick last October. You can get all the information you will ever need about lighthouses here at the forum. I have a good friend that lives in Liverpool England. Been trying to get there for years. Welcome again.

Welcome to the forums Fiona. It's always nice to have a new forum member. I would love to hear about some of your experiences visiting lighthouses in the UK, especially ones that can be easily visited or viewed from land.

Hi Fiona and welcome to the forums!

You mentioned Fastnet in your post. That happens to be my favorite international lighthouse. It is an impressive light situated on that craggy piece of rock. I am still hoping that one day Harbour Lights will sculpt this awesome lighthouse.

I hope to hear more of your insight on the UK lights.

Greetings Fiona and welcome to the forums! My daughter and I were fortunate to have visited the U.K. in 1994 and I would truly like to return again and spend more time exploring the countryside and visiting lighthouses along the way. During the summer of 1995 we had two young women staying with us, one from Liverpool and one from S. Glamorgan, Wales. It was a wonderful experience for all of us and we remain in touch.

Welcome Fiona to the collectors Forums. I have not had the opportunity to visit your area of the world but do know they have some great lighthouses there. As others have said, there are many very knowledgeable people in these forums and as a fellow newbie I am looking forward to hearing from you in the future.

Hello Fiona

Just a note from another newbie, not so far away as everyone else.
Although beinginterested in lighthouses for more years than I care to remember and having a company logo incorporating a lighthouse I have as you only recently started collecting. I have had a great deal of trouble in locating UK models, but have recently been informed that the "Pharos" range was discontinued due to poor quality. Another forum member OSeaBee has given me the address of a retailer in Chobham in Surrey if that is any help to you.

regards

Derek

Welcome Derek. You have singlehandedly doubled our membership from the UK! We will also be looking to your comments on lighthousing the UK. Maybe you will even be able to find one of the elusive Pharos models.
