Welcome to the Forums! You are a celebrity in our midst and for all of you that are wondering what I'm talking about I will let you in on the mystery. These new members are the lucky family that has the pleasure of living in the ERIE LAND LIGHT as the keepers. It is a pleasure to have you join us and hopefully you will post telling the other members a little bit about yourselves. Dave and I have had the pleasure to talk with them about there lives at the ELL and how they got there. I hope that you will tell others about your experiences.

Welcome, Pat. Please do share your experiences at ELL with the rest of us. We don't often get firsthand information such as you can provide. I'm looking forward to your posts.

Thanks for the welcome. I do live at the Erie Land Lighthouse with my wife Mary and son, Patrick (15). We are in our 11th year at E.L.L. We have met people from all over the world who are lighthouse lovers. I am always looking for any stories or photo's of E.L.L. I am also interested in any photo's or stories about the warship U.S.Michigan later renamed U.S. Wolverine. If you live on the Great Lakes there are probably photo's of "the Michigan" at your local history society. Again thanks for the welcome. I hope to hear from many of you in the near future.

Glad to have you here Pat...it's nice to have new people that have the same love of lighthouses that the rest of us do here...I'm sure you have much to offer.

Welcome, Pat! It's great to have someone close with our "new favourite light" onboard! We'd love to hear more about life at the lighthouse! And I'd have to say that, being a 15-y/o myself, I'd swap places with your son anytime.

Hello from the Erie Land Lighthouse. Sorry it's been so long between postings. The E.L.L light has been off since 12/24/1899. Last year the E.L.L. was refurbished and once agin looks beautiful. Hopefully we can covince the city of Erie to contact the Coast Guard in Cleveland and find out what it would take to have the Erie Land Lighthouse recertifide as a aide to navigation. Wouldn't it be great to see the light flashing over Lake Erie again after 106+ years. We are getting ready for winter, last year I was kidding with someone and said I was afraid to put up our snow fence because that would bring the snow. I think a couple days after I put the fence up we got a few inches of snow. I am thinking about putting the snowfence up this weekend. What do you think?

Right around Thanksgiving, usually Thanksgiving Eve is when I can remember getting the first snow of the season when I lived in Girard. It was great fun going rabbit hunting and then coming home to a Thanksgiving Dinner. Put the fence up because it's time for the snow to start.

Welcome to the Forums Capt. J. Bone and family. MJ and I just returned from vacation and are a bit late with this welcome, but it is a warm one just the same. We look forward to communicating with you here. We hope the snow holds off just yet, at least in New England.
