This does away with long download time to bring the thread up on to your screen. Readers have the option of going back to the older thread(s) or just reading the info in the new one. A matter of preference for the individual to decide.

kikigl - Bangor and Lincoln, ME are a long way from St. Petersburg, FL. I'll bet you don't miss the cold winters, ice and snow too much. MJ (my wife) and I try to get to Maine at least twice a year to do some lighthousing and enjoy the wonderful coastline towns and villages. The further north you go the more beautiful the coast, where the conifer trees & rocky outcropings meet the ocean.

We had the opportunity several years ago to vist your area in FL. Although the coast is totally different down south, we did enjoy the beautiful beaches. Also had a chance to see a few lighthouses.

Looking forward to reading your posts on the forums in the future.

Welcome also to Terry. I don't think it matters whether you head north or south to do some lighthousing. I believe you will enjoy yourselves in either direction, as long as you can get to a lighthouse.

It's nice that both you and your wife enjoy them as it's an interesting hobby. Lighthouses are often a part of our daily conversations around our home. Mary Jane and I have never been to the Carolinas and look forward to seeing the Outer Banks someday.

It's nice to have you as part of the HL family of collectors who share their love for lighthouses on these forums.

The cold winters, ice, and snow are the reasons that I now reside in Florida! But I do love to go back. Usually go up three or four times a year. Fall is especially beautiful.
I love Florida also! Which lighthouses did you visit when you were down?
Hope you got to see Boca Grande. It seems that you are in a different world when you are there. I'm so glad Harbour Lights made it the new Society Piece.

It's nice to hear from both of you (kikigl & Terry). When MJ and I visited FL we were able to visit St. Augustine, Jupiter Inlet, Ponce Inlet, Boca Grande, Gasparilla, Egmont Key (to name a few without looking through the archives). We loved FL and would like to visit again. Thanks, Terry, for the compliments on the pics. I must thank St. John and Paul Brady for their help in getting them in a place to share with others.

Ron, On any of your trips to Maine did you happen to visit East Quoddy? It is gorgeous! It is located at the end of Campabello Island in Canada. You cross over by bridge in Lubec, Me. and it't not far after you get on the island. You also go by Mulholland Light on the way. If you do get up there don't miss West Quoddy.

Yes kikigl, just this past year we were able to visit both East & West Quoddy for our first time. We loved the beautiful settings with the rocky cliffs and the pine trees which look great with the red and white of each lighthouse. Luckily the tide was out and we could walk across to East Quoddy. A very memorable time.

Hello Everyone,

I started collecting HL's less than a year ago and already have 45. It is amazing how addictive collecting them can be.

I live close to and do a lot of boating on the Chesapeake Bay.I have seen almost all of the lighthouses on the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays either by car or boat plus I have visited quite a few others around the country

I registered in the Collectors Forum about a month ago. Since then I have read a lot of the posts that you all leave. There sure are a lot of dedicated and friendly HL collectors out there!!

My wife and I are planning on visiting the Outer Banks over Memorial Weekend. I hope to meet some of you there.

Hi Snowluver, and welcome to the Collector Forums. Jarrettsville eh?! My folks live in Annapolis which is not too far from you. I love the Chesapeake Bay, and all that it offers. The lighthouses are beautiful, but I must admit... my favorite the Bay has to offer is the blue crabs with plenty of Old Bay seasoning! Anyway, it's good to have you aboard and posting.

Hey Snowluver, its good to have you on-board! I'm also a lover of the Chesapeake Bay (used to sail out of Deltaville, Va) and all their wonderful "Lights". 45 HL's in less than a year? I'd say that you've got the addiction pretty well !!

I have to agree with you Torchbearer. There is nothing better than getting together with a few good friends, a bushel of steamed crabs and a cooler full of cold beer. That is a crab feast Chesapeake style. I'm getting the urge just writing about it. I may have to get some this weekend!

Yea the addiction is pretty bad. The worst thing is trying to hide them all from my wife!

I agree that having read the forums for a while now that everyone seems to be great and share a love for lighthouses.

We are staying at a friends vacation home in Nags Head Memorial Day weekend. I plan on f=driving down to Hatteras on Saturday morning to attend the festivities then spending Sunday and Monday visiting other lighthouses on the Outer Banks.

I am a brand new user to the forums. I have loved lighthouses for years but only within the last two years have I gotten to visit nay of them. I am land locked in central Texas so there are not many lighthouses near by. I have visited a few in Florida while on vacation there and just this year visited many of the New England coast lights. I also just recently joined the Harbour Lights Collector's Society and look forward to talking to many of you about your experiances.

Welcome aboard Frank. I too am a "newbie" to the posts but not to HL collecting. You might want to check out the Gulf Coast there in Texas, they have lot's of lighthouses. This is a great web site and is user friendly and of course really people friendly.

Welcome, Frank. Being from a town that ends with the word "Cove" one would think that you lived on the water. Seems to me there are some other land-locked Texans that frquent the forums - may be time to get a local club going!

Ok, so I missed this thread.... I am a lighthouse lover from way back, started collecting HL in 91. I live in Altamonte Springs, FL, right outside Orlando and live about 45 min from the ocean. I should have looked here first, but just now reading through.

I must say that I am SO very impressed with all of the HL collectors and lighthouse lovers. What a wonderful group of sharing, caring people. I feel honored to be in your presence.

Thanks to HL for facilitating this site in order for us to meet and greet, share and inform.

I am humbled by the saints and cruise directors, a status to which I aspire.

Thank you to all for the nice warm welcome. I am sure I am going to enjoy posting to this message board a lot. After reading posts of most of the other users I am amazed at the size of some collections. Mine is rather small and unfortunately just starting on the Harbour Lights peices. An add from my local dealer and their rep event was what got me hooked on Harbour Lights. Don't let the "Cove" in my town name throw you . Only "Cove" around here is the porcellon one in my bathroom, but I have thought of displaying one of my bad name brand lights on the tank so no ships unexpectantly go a ground. I have and do make trips to the Texas Gulf Coast lights as often as I can. Might even go down this weekend. Only a couple that you can get close to though. Thanks again for the welcome....... Frank

Torchbearer, or anyone else who can help me, I have been checking out the chat logs from a few of the past chats. I work the midnight shift and have not ended up on a day off when the chats are so I have not been able to participate yet. I have seen that the logs start at 7pm, I take it EST, but how late do they normally last? I have a computer available at work and could possibly log on after midnight CST. Trouble is with my job it might be an in and out in a hurry type of thing though. Is there any other times that people get together to chat or is it just the logged times posted? Thanks for the help.

Chats start at 9 PM ET if on a Wednesday, 10 PM ET if on a Thursday. I believe the time on the log is actually PT, but I'm not sure.

Most chats seem to go for about 90 minutes -- but last week's went on over 2 hours.

Thanks for the info on the chats.... I'm going to get in there one of these times when it works out for me. Until then I will be keeping watch of the logs.

Hello everyone. New Harbour Lights collector here from Alabama. Me and my wife just started collecting HL on April 29th. We first saw the HL collection while on our honeymoon. We picked up a society membership application and brought it home with us. We liked the way the Baltimore Society Exclusive piece looked, and we decided to join the club just before the membership year for that piece ended.

Since that time, we have purchased 14 other pieces, and we are looking forward to buying some of the newer pieces when they come out. We don't really collect from any particular region, but just buy the ones that really catch our eyes. Most of our pieces right now are from the South, Northeast, and Great Lakes.

Look forward to reading the forums, occasionally chatting, and buying many more Harbour Lights.

No one's advised us of the addiction factor yet. However, is there a phone number for Harbour Lights anonymous? My wife has mentioned that if we keep buying like we have, we may need to join.

thrilled to see Cape Hatteras after it's move. Went on Memorial Day Weekend. Met

Hi everyone. I'm from Jupiter FL and were are enjoying our newly renovated lighthouse. My wife and I originally got hooked on lighthouses by sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. I can’t even count the number of times we have sailed by Thomas Point. We are also fortunate to get to the Outer Banks every year. Unfortunately, it seems like the N.C. lighthouses cost almost as much as our rental house for the week. Thanks for everyones posts. I’ve learned a lot about collecting H.L.s and I’m looking forward to learning more.
