Hi from Houston, everyone. Space Town USA, we have more space cases here than in California. Which is where I grew up and began to love Lighthouses. However, I am new to this forum and collecting. I really hope you don't take points off for spelking. First, my username Shiulong (sue lung) is really my son's middle name given to him by my wife, it means Little Dragon. He has been helping me build new shelves in our house to display all the new HL lighthouses I keep buying. Since 11/1/01 I have managed around 1 lighthouse a week. At this point I think I have a nice core in which to start my collection with. I seem to go for ones that appeal to me. Unfortunately, that seem to be quite a few. I am currently looking for a club in this area. But if I don't find one, I'll start one. I think it will be call Lighthouse Anonymous. A place where we can get support FOR our addiction, not to give it up. We will have classes on convincing one's spouse that HL Lighthouses are good and necessary for a tranquil life. We start by planning a trip down the Texas coast this weekend to checkout Texas lighthouses and get some pic's for a contest. With her help, I will try some of Gary Martin's suggestions for some night shots. While at it we will take some long walks down moonlight beaches with large lighthouses in the background. After that who could say no to one or two little lighthouses, not me.

Did I mention no kids on this trip?

Safe weekend everone.

Chuck

Count me in on the Harbour Lights support group! It's not that far between San Antonio and Houston and sounds like help that I could use. Terry

Welcome! An HL a week, I envy you. I think my fiance would kill me if I brought home an HL a week. I'm supposed to be helping to save for our wedding and our vacation to Maine this summer. You will absolutely love it here, we're all lighthouse nuts.

Welcome to our world! You'll like it a lot.

Is Neil Frank still a weatherman in Houston?

Happy posting!

Thanks for all the great welcomes. Yea, Neil is still hanging around. Will, I have been married for 20 years and my wife has now grounded me from the credit card and Harbour Lights for several weeks. She did allow me to place an order for the USCG 110' Patrol Boat and the new Clam shell lens before she took the card. She also said only two layaways at a time. However, my dealer knows what I want so no problem. I still can't get use to using the words "My dealer...". Does this seem strange to anyone else?

Hi Chuck, welcome!

I might just like to drop in and check out your local HL club next time I'm in Houston. I lived in Houston when I was a little girl, and my father lives in New Caney yet today. I go to visit him once or twice a year.

Look forward to your posts.

Hi Chuck! I'm a newbie to the site myself, but I've been collecting Harbour Lights for years. Not nearly at the rate you have...lucky you!! I live in Houston, in the Galleria area, and I've been trying to find lighthouse lovers here and have been having some difficulties. Keep me posted about your club. I would be really interested. I just took a trip this past weekend to Port Lavaca and Matagorda to get some shots. I just bought a new camera and had to break it in. I need to make it down to South Padre before years end. Hopefully, they won't have another bridge debacle. Looking forward to being part of the HL community! --------Becki

And a big welcome to you, Becki. We have some other members from Texas, but I believe they are in the Dallas area. Since you have a new camera and just took some shots of Matagorda, feel free to post them here in the forums (down in the Lighthouse Map Room area).

I'm fairly new to these forums myself and haven't started physically collecting the lighthouses BUT I do have at least 3 full cd's of lighthouse photos of the lighthouses at South Haven, St. Joseph and Holland, (Big Red), Michigan taken during the time my husband and I were visiting Gary Martin, Cruise Director of the Lighthouse Photography forum recently started, in September, as well as several boxes of slides yet to scan from my 2nd trip there in Dec. of the same lighthouses plus Grand Haven.
