Thank you for the nice welcome
Let me tell you about how I got my start with Lighthouses.
Well it started with Shepler's in Mackinac City. I took their boat trip's with Sandy Planicek narrating, and the rst is history, I was hooked! While I have only been to about 50-60 lights, I keep looking for more.
This year I went to The Toledo Harbour Light with GLKKA, and I also went to the Cedar Point Light with Harbour Lights. My big trip is next year up on Lake Superior with GLKKA, and I can't wait!!!!!
I am collector also of Harbour Lights, and have maybe 120 pc's or so. I found out that I am just a baby on collecting these, as some of you have 1000 pc's and more. Well, I try to pick up as much sa my wallet allows.
I also did the Wisconsin trip 2 years ago and the brain cannot remember the area, up their???

Well anyway I am excited about this new site and so many people to meet and I hope alot of new friends. Thank You for having me join your group....Terry O'Connell

Terry - Please post often! It usually takes months for someone new to post so we're very fortunate to have you make your first post within days of joining. You'll find that someone here has an answer to any question you may ask. In fact you might get several answers and they all might be different but we will hash them out and get you the correct answer.

Please take the time to order our 2nd Forum's Exclusive which is the Wisconsin Point Pier Light made by Harbour Lights just for the Collectors Forum. You can't find it anywhere else.

Thank You Rich. It was Door County that I went up to in my previous post.

I am also very anxious to see the new HL release for January. I bought everyone of them last year, and also some duplicates.
I forgot to mention that I am also a boater on Lake St. Clair, up on Anchor Bay. I keep my 20ft. Sea Ray at Belle Maer Harbour, a really beautiful Marina. I have been there for 22yrs now and love it more each year.
I am right near The South Channel Lights, and can get to the Detroit River Light as well.
Does anyone know of any good trips coming this year?? Terry

Welcome to the forums TerryO!
Glad to hear that you have visited Door County...it's a beautiful area with plenty of lighthouses to check out.
I hope to get back over to Michigan to check out more of the lights that I haven't seen yet.
welcome

Well there are so many areas here to see alot of lights. I think the straits area with Sheplers is a good one. You go on the east or west of the bridge cruise and you see five or six lights, plus you'll get some great shots going under the Mighty Mac. Alpena is another good place, but go during the Lighthouse Festival (1st weekend in Oct.) they open alot of the lights for that event.
Three good books on the Great Lakes Lights are put out by Jerry Roach. They are the west side of the state, the east, and a new one on Lake Superior. All in color, very nice. Terry

Thanks Doc. I am still amazed at how this lighthouse thing took me by surprize. I never really gave alot of thought about them. But they are such a treasure, and a big part of our history that cannot be replaced once they are gone. Where are you from?

I am here in Mi. shoveling my fanny off, as we have had our share of winter already.
I looking forward to our boat show at Cobo, and thinking about my trip to Lake Superior for a great cruise next year.

Hi Terry
I lived in Michigan for four years which is when I really got hooked on lighthouses. I've seen most of the Michigan lighthouses except for some that are on islands. Now I live in the Kansas City area and have to take vacation time to see any lighthouses.

You will enjoy all the topics here on the CF. I've learned a lot. There are many Harbour Lights and lighthouse experts who post regularly to this site.

You know Cyndi: I have even started picking a lightouse photo that I include with my Christmas cards. I print a brief discription of it and a little history and sticker to the back of the photo. People love it and I hope this might also put the seed in other peoples minds as well about these national treasues. This year I chose the Tawas Light. My photo came out so well, with the most beatiful blue sky, and the red roof on her, with the green grass, awsome!!!!!!

Hey, fellow lighthouse fanatic!
Are ya ready, let’s get to know ya?

How many HL do you own
What does “LE” stand for
Which directions do the stripes flow on Hatteras
How many have you visited
How many Marbleheads are there
Do you know where the seahorse is
Who’s the moderator of “limited edition lockerroom
Are there lighthouses in your area
Do you like twinkies
Which one do they call ol’ baldy
Who’s bald in their avatar pic
What is an avatar
Gossip about Bob M goes where
Who wrote the song “Pop Music”
What light looks like Bodie but is red
Is Red Buttons still alive
Who started Harbour Lights
Dose the Boston light have a Fresnel lens
Who do you have to know to get into N.E.L.L.
Should H.L. make a L.E. of The Wright Brothers Memorial
What piece do they want you to buy now you’ve joined

Okay Rusty: Enough! Hi Eric, I bet your weather is alot beter than ours right now!
I just saw the new Hl Releases, and am getting them all ordered hopefully today. Can't wait.
I didn't see any LL's, or AB's on this first release.
I would like to know more about the Christmas card Exc. thing, sounds like fun!

Nice pics Rusty! What kind of camera do you use? How many MP's. I have a Olympus 6050, which is kind of old now but I still like the pics that she takes. I got some great ones of the Tawas Point Light last year.
You sw some great lights. I especially like Hatteras pics.
