Greetings and salutations. My wife, who is the 'true' collector, is getting me hooked on these blasted lighthouses. I have another hobby (collecting WWII German militaria) and I'm a moderator on a site dealing with that. Since this type of forum is familiar to me, I got elected to officially join up. I expect that she will be signing on soon under her own moniker. I (we) look forward to chatting with and learning from all of you. laugh

Welcome Sarge! You just proved a very old saying is true - Behind every man there is a great woman. Thank you! wink Hope you enjoy the forum, everyone is wonderful and friendly here. Just ask a question and you'll get tons of replies. We look forward to hearing from you and your better half. smile

Hey Dave, he may be from a Lighthouseless State, but I'm sure he'll get a Lighthouse License Plate before we do here in Sunny and Lighthouse Filled Florida! frown

BonnieJean, you are so right about the license plates. Colorado has special license plates for just about everything else.

Very good to hear from you, Mel. I'm a patrol sergeant with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office - and we both know what county Franktown is in, don't we. laugh (Jeez, I hope I haven't given you a speeding ticket or anything.... eek )

WAIT A MINUTE! HOLD THE PHONES! Sarge, do you mean to tell me that Colorado, a state with NO Lighthouses, has a Lighthouse License Plate for the back of their car??? eek If you say yes, I'm going to pack my bags and move to Maine, a state where they have not only Lighthouse License Plates, but also a Lighthouse State Quarter! For that I may be able to survive the cold, dreary, snowfilled winters. Maybe I'll become a Snowbird! LOL! laugh

The most frequently asked question in Florida - "If it's called Tourist Season, why can't we hunt and shoot them?" :p

Sarge,

For Your Information: There has been an ongoing discussion about state license plates on the forum. smile To check out the thread go to: State Lighthouse License Plate Thread

It's a bit of an upsetting conversation here in Florida. mad We have license plates for everything, from Save the Manatees, Panther, Fish, Wildlife, Birds, to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, to Anti-Abortion, and Sports. But they can't approve a Save the Florida Lighthouses Plate to help bring in extra money needed to save and restore our Thirty Lighthouses. frown

Hopefully at our meeting this weekend, we may get some good news on this issue. Everyone, please cross your fingers for us poor souls here in the Lighthouse filled, but Lighthouse License Plate empty, Sunshine State. smile

BonnieJean - don't call the movers just yet. Colorado doesn't have a lighthouse license plate - although at the rate they are approving 'specialty' plates I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Heck! We have over 32 different specialty plates here in Florida! How many do you have?

I've never had a ticket from a County man, just the State, when I rolled my Blazer on Tomichi Rd. in Russelville back in 1986!

Are you one of those fellows that's been trying to slow down the speed demons on Russelville Rd (Cty Rd 69)? smile

Maybe I'll meet you and your Missus when Bill comes to town in November. He will be at the Mole Hole @ Southglenn on Nov 1 from 5 to 7;
Nov 2, he's @ Ashley Avery's in Westminster from 11 to 1, and Gifthouse in Denver from 2 -4.

I've never been to a "Bill" gathering at these places, but it is always guaranteed to be very interesting, Bill is a great speaker and has wonderful lighthouse stories. And there are always other lighthouse Wackos there to talk to about their lighthouse adventures!

smile smile

Glad you haven't received any 'gifts' from one of my guys. Back in '86 State worked all accidents in the county (except for those in The Rock or Parker, of course). Now they only handle State highways, so if you get upside down on Tomichi again, it will be one of us doing the paper. laugh

I'm a patrol sergeant so can't take credit for the traffic guys working Russelville, although I do make it down to that area about once a week on Wednesdays.

Thanks for the information on Bill. November 1st is a work day, but Saturday might work out. I'll tell the boss and see what she thinks.
