For you newcomers there is an incredible depth of information in these fora. Some of it's buried in threads whose titles belie their subject matter. (Like South Atlantic winds, forum topics can shift at any moment.)

Todd's suggestion to use the 'Search' feature is an excellent tip. Also, try setting back the number of messages you see with the drop down list in the upper right. Rainy day? Go back a year and settle in for some interesting reading. There aren't too many topics we haven't already covered at one time or another - which is not to say there's not room for new perspectives. (Everyone's got one! )

You'll see the term 'Wacko' used a lot. The true meaning of this term has been kinda blurred recently. It first was used to denote that handfull of collectors who try to collect all HL Limited Editions, or in the more severe cases, those who collect everything HL makes. It has evolved to a general meaning of someone who is an HL 'nut'. The 'Wacko' designation is handed out by the messaging software to folks who post at least 50 messages on these forums. Times change, language evolves, but as a cyberforum we are (in part) a product of what we write.

Here's a quickie link to the first known usage, and an interesting thread to boot. A mere 6 months back. Read it and get a flavor of some of our discussions.

Wackos in the grass, alas

There's lots more where this came from. Scary, aint it. :-) Dig around, snoop into older threads, there's both brass and gold in these here forums. If you're new to collecting Harbour Lights, here, at your fingertips, you have access to over a hundred cummulative years of collecting experience - just by reading through the forums.

Rgds,

Oh boy Tim, that one is a golden oldie.
Maybe John, should come up with a new category. Collector Forums Classic Postings
Please note that status next to the Forum user's name is current, and not what it was at the time of posting. Therefore a 'newbie' or 'associate member' then can be viewed today as a WACKO
