Just wanted to welcome Jim Streeter, Co-Founder of the Avery Point Lighthouse Society, who posted in the following thread today. http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/Forum36/HTML/000010.html I have invited Jim to post here so you may get to know him and he may get to know you. He has done a very commendable job of leading the charge to save Avery Point Lighthouse. He also has a few Harbour Lights. Welcome, again, to the Forums Jim!! Ron(CT Keeper)

Hello everyone -
Just wanted to provide a little background about myself.
Am a local historian for Groton, CT and as such became activtely involved in the effort of saving and restore the Avery Point Lighthouse. Through this effort I came in contact with Ron Foster and ultimately became a member of NELL. It was through NELL that I gather an interest in the Harbour Lights. Only have a selective few so far but am sure my collection will increase as my interest in and travel to various lighthouses continues.
Am a co-founder and co-chairman of the Avery Point Ligthhouse Society. Work full time as a Criminalist with the Connecticut State Police Forensic Laboratory and have a private handwriting//questioned document business. My wife Irma is an ongoing inspiration to all of us involved in the Avery Point project. Have two grown children and two grand children. We must save as many lighthouses as possible so our children and grand children can experience them.
Hope to get to meet as many of you as I can!!
Jim Streeter

Welcome aboard Jim!!! Although I have been reading for awhile I am a newbie too because I never posted before. I hope you realize that now your hooked. Now that your here I think you will find it easy to start reading posts and loose track of time. Ron is right in that this is like a big family with Bill & Nancy being the parents. Just like they are wonderful and giving people you will find most of the people here are too.

Welcome to the Forums Jim!
It's great to have another "lover of lighthouses" with us. Also, it's great to have someone who has done so much to save a light. Perhaps many more will step up to save one in their community...it only takes one who has the drive to get the work started. Thanks on behalf of all the future generations who will see and experience the lighthouse at Avery Point. Derith

Hi Jim. I would also like to say if you would like to purchase an APLS shirt, Jim is the one to talk to. I know I am enjoying mine. Thanks Jim.

Welcome, Jim! Glad you decided to join the forum. I look forward to hearing more from you here. I love my Avery Point Lighthouse shirt too, Terry. It gets a lot of attention every time I wear it - really nice design - people are always saying what a nice shirt it is and asking me where the lighthouse is exactly [and they all ask what happened to Long Island on the map ]. Being on Long Island, I have to describe the location of the lighthouse in relation to the Orient Point-New London Ferry...but it's a nice connection to be able to make...at least makes it seem a lot more relevant to someone living all the way across the Long Island Sound (these are not your typical lighthouse people that I am talking about, so they are not lovers of all lighthouses wherever they may be...but this is a good way to get them to start noticing more lighthouses, definitely). ------------------ KRISTIN ERIN SCROOPE kristin@scroope.net http://www.scroope.net/lighthouses/lhlist.htm http://www.LILighthouseSociety.org

Welcome, Jim
Always nice to see new blood coming in.
Sounds like you'll be a great addition to this crew.
I got my shirt from my brother-in-law who bought it in the store at EB where in works in CT.
Not a lighthouse person, but still a good person. He's the one that pointed out that my interst in lighthouses probably started with my previous job- I was a Prison Guard stationed in a Guard Tower overlooking the Recreation Yard at Trenton State Prison.
Looking forward to your input.
Dennis
