I picked up my Big Sable Point today and found a Harbour Lights Certificate inside that says, "You have won a Limited Edition Harbour Lights Collectible!"

I couldn't believe it. Thanks Harbour Lights!!!

I have removed a couple things off of the scan to protect its authenticity and copying. Enjoy!!!

So this is a new thing? What are one's chances of winning? 1 in a zillion???? Like the big prize at Mickey D's? A marketing ploy to get us to run right out and buy the new lights? Buy em quick (in March and get another entry for the contest)? And I was going to stay pat for a while....John, what's the story? I only go to the dealer when I go to the dump with my trash. Do I have to collect trash from my neighbors to get a trunkful so I can go again soon?

Another "Unexpected" for 1999.

Don't know how many, which lighthouses, etc. Just check your boxes. I understand from Sean the coupon must be redeemed by 4/30/99.

Interesting if it turned out to be Wind Point or Round Island. Heck - I say keep the certificate - it'll be a prized collectible some day. (vbg)

Congratulations on the excellent find Sean.

Guess I'd better get off my duff and pick up the pieces the dealer has been holding.

Well, my Big Sable arrived today. No winning certificate here, but a nice story card was included with the paperwork.

The story card details the the crew that installed the steel plating to save Big Sable from further deterioration and includes a photo of the crew on the other side. A very nice inclusion with the piece.

Further to John's post on this topic, these certificates clearly have an expiration date which is 4/30/99. Also each one has a hand-written number in the upper left corner. For the number-crunchers out there, the one on my certificate was #56 which was packaged with Big Sable serial #483. On the back of the certificate is the statement "Prize selection to be determined by Harbour Lights". Wonder which one it will be?

About 120 of the 200 Certificates distributed in Big Sable Point were returned so far.

The special gift will be HL's choice of a retired item that remains in their possession. This could be anything from Admiralty Head (101) to Round Island or Wind Point. It could include other retired items such as Legacy.

All 120 have been shipped. A few more will go out next week.

Got home today and found a box from HL on my doorstep. I thought it was a little fast for the membership package and to my surprise it was the HL "appreciation" lighthouse for the certificate that I received in my Big Sable HL. Upon opening it I found a very nice little note along with a #209 Cape Florida HL.

I just want to say thank you to Younger & Associates and Harbour Lights for a nice gift and a good thought. It's little surprises like this that make collecting HL more enjoyable than any of the other collectables. And although I already have a Cape Florida I have decided that it's time to give another member of my family a nice surprise by giving them one of my favorite lighthouses. If I chose my younger sister it will probably mean another "hooked wacko" that will jump into HL collecting. Thanks again Harbour Lights for the gift and I do appreciate it very much and I hope that you continue to keep up the fun in HL collecting and the nice little surprises.

Congratulations on your free HL, Dick! If deciding who to give it to is a problem, you could always give it to me as it's one I donn't have, LOL!

I, like Dick, had a package waiting from UPS when I got home today. I got a Sandy Hook, #104. As I already have a Sandy Hook, will add it to my trade package in hopes of getting (a) lighthouse(s) that I don't already have. I've got Sandy Hook, Highland (no "s") and a Gray's Harbor variation available.

I also would like to thank Harbour Lights as this does spice up the collecting fun and draws wallflowers like me out of our shells. Keep thinking up surprises Bill.

Rich

ps: still looking for Burrows Island, SE Block, Ocracoke, St. Augustine and Big Bay Pt.

I too was one of the fortunate ones to receive a certificate. Today I had a package from UPS. My gift was Cape Henry (#9491/9500). I'm delighted since I didn't already have one. Thanks Harbour Lights!

I had a surprise package delivered today. A great big thanks to Harbour Lights!!! It was one of those good news, bad news things. The good news it was a very nice Great Cpt. Island with rod from HL as a gift for the certificate from my Big Sable. The bad news, the top was broken off in shipment. It was pretty bad (and sad) as the top must have broken early in shipment & bounced around against the piece as there were many chips in the piece. The top, rod & lots of paint chips in the bottom of the bag! Better luck to everyone else!!

I too received a visit from my UPS man today. It was my surprise from my Big Sable Certificate. Mine was Le Jumet (sadly I have this) but the thought and the enclosed letter was beautiful. I would share the letter with all but the scanner I bought will not work with this old computer(--newer hand me down coming in a couple of weeks). Thank you again Harbour Lights for thinking of us all and keep up the surprises.

As another member of the "Lucky 200" club, I too was pleasantly surprised this afternoon when I found on my doorstep a package from HL. My HL appreciation gift was Fort Niagara. Couldn't have been more pleased. Didn't really know what to expect, but I never expected a 5500 edition piece!! Harbour Lights is a real class act, but then we already knew that! Although I already have this piece in my collection, it won't go to waste - it'll be a gift to a member of my family is has recently gotten hooked on these little works of art. Many thanks to HL for their generosity.
