Hey all you Long Islanders...how about some hotel suggestions for the regional event that is coming up. I like to plan ahead and would appreciate some input.

Hotels around the Freeport area are a little flakey. The Recreation Center is in an industrial type area. The Marriott in Uniondale is a real nice hotel. If you want to spend time around other lighthouses, the Marriott Courtyards are fairly new and there are several along the LIE. In Montauk, Wavecrest is right on the beach and fairly reasonable after Labor Day. In town is the Montauk Manor or the Montauk Yacht Club in the Harbor. If you stay in Montauk, you must eat at the Harvest and Gosman's Upper Deck.

Hey Bob, ...Don't forget "Navy Road"! It's a fabulous restaurant outside of town. Right on the beach with 5-star cooking, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Does the Harvest still have the garden right next to the building?

Unless there is a large group staying at a particular hotel, I will probably book a room at a Marriott in the area.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was looking at staying at the Marriott in Uniondale but was just curious if there was some other choice I was missing.

I made my reservations to stay at the Long Island Marriott Hotel (in Uniondale) for 6 nights from Thurs. Sept. 18 to Wed. Sept. 24. The first 4 nights are cheaper than Monday and Tuesday nights.

Navy Road is a new one on me Bob but I've found something new each of the 22 years we've been going to Montauk. Definitely will be checking it out the next time. Yes, the Harvest still has outdoor dining in the garden adjacent to the Lake.

Has a decision been made on the "Official" Wacko hotel for the regional?

Time to start thinking about making some reservations...

Our flight out of Appleton to LaGuardia is 164 RT, so we've got a steal on the flights, going to try to equally test the markets on the hotels, so I can go spend some money on Broadway...

Quality Inn in Hempstead is $89 per night, which is a pretty decent bargain on Long Island. We are staying there, and I believe the Brady's also are.

We got anybody local who can check this one out? I was disappointed with the Quality Inn in San Diego.

I have reservations at the Marriott in Uniondale. Thursday through Sunday nights are $149 per night. The rate does go up on Monday night.

Our Quality Inn in El Cajon that we stayed at was very nice, John! I think it just all depends a little luck..

That's the 'luck' I'm trying to put on my side.

Also, I seem to recall from my "work" visits that Hempstead has some pretty "rough around the edges areas". Perhaps one of our local wackos can let us know about the area too.

Yes, Jim I agree. Unless the hotels/motels are adjacent to Hofstra U, I'd be wary.

Kate and I have made reservations at the Islip Holiday Inn for $109, but that's because we're flying out at daybreak on Sunday. Agree with Saint John...wasn;t too keen on the CI's in the San Diego area.

cool cool cool
