What are they thinking?

Watch your eMail for a special EVENTFUL edition of Musings.

AJC

I edited the name of this thread after the Musings became information about a possible 2011 Alaska Cruise Reunion.

Eventful? Event? Celebrity? What could it be? In-Store? Regional? Reunion?

Harbour Lights 1991-2011 - 20 years? Something to celebrate?

Tony says to expect the Musings by the end of the week. Says he'll be looking for feedback once you get the Musings. Until then, it's under wraps.

That doesn't keep us from speculating. What do you think? What's your wildest dream?

Well I'm still hopeing for that Reunion that Tony hinted at sometime (longtime) ago! Remember some of us were thinking it might be a Cruise Reunion to Alsaka. Ofcourse we were only dreaming. But I'm still dreaming about it! smile

Good out of the box dreaming, Steph...

Alaska's on my 'bucket list': one of two states I've never visited (the other is Idaho.)

I'm guessing it's either a reunion or a big regional for 2011. Good way to celebrate the first 20 year (1991-2010) and kickoff the next 20 years of Harbour Lights.

My guess for a location would be somewhere around the Great Lakes, but New England area might be good too. Then again, wasn't the Seatle area highly speculated a while back?

I've been to both Alaska and Idaho, but there are other states I haven't been to. Drove though one of the prettiest and fiercest lighting storms in Idaho.

I'm Extremely Interested, but first I need to discuss with Mrs. Loon over the weekend.

We need to resolve some roadblocks with finances, people, & pets.

I don't want to miss this, so I'm going all out to make it happen.

I have been requesting this, ever since we went to the 1st Reunion in San Diego and on a cruise of the Alaska Inside Passage that same year..

Needless to say our Extremely Interested email went in as soon as we got home last night from our St. Lawrence Seaway Trip!!

The original email had "+" signs in between HL and Musings and between Musings and Newsletter in the links. If you replace those with spaces, you'll get the link to work -- or click my modified link above for the high res version.

I tested the bad link in Foxfire and Chrome, but not in MS Internet Explorer. Anyone else having problems from the original email?

I reported this link problem to Tony yesterday. Awaiting a call back from him today.

I'm going to send my "Very Interested" reply.

I love the idea...I have to visit Alaska by 2015 anyway as part of my "50 States by 25" plan. I have a trip bouncing around with a friend to go to the Aluetians (as far as we can) in 2012 or so, but that won't be for a few years yet.

As you may know, my second passion in life is ships, so to combine lighthousing and cruising would be awesome. Especially if we could do some special lighthouse-related shore excursions. The key for me if I were to go would be that it would have to have a good amount of high-quality lighthousing involved. There has to be a reason to get me to do this specific Alaska trip -- there are otherwise other ways I have been considering visiting the state. Good lighthousing ON TOP OF good friends could make that a deal.

I believe this cruise would be on CELEBRITY INFINITY, which is a very nice ship from all I know who have sailed on her. She may also be going in for a major refit before this cruise takes place -- that entire class of ships is getting updated to the standards of the brand-new "Solstice class." Celebrity always gets great reviews, and I've been meaning to try them, so this would be a great way to do that as well.

Overall, I am very interested. I do have another two-week cruising-related holiday planned for that summer, so I'd have to work around that...but overall...I really, really like this idea.

We are extremely interested in the Alaskan Cruise. Last June we did the inland cruise on Holland America, stopping at some of the same ports. This cruise adds some additional ports, the lighthousing tours and sailing with alot of follow lighthouse lovers which makes it very attractive. Looking forward to June 2011.

I talked with Joe on the phone last night. I did not ask him if we could go on this cruise.... I told him WE ARE GOING! Of course I didn't get any complaints about it. He's all for it!

I haven't yet spent this years Income Tax Refund so I'll put that money in a special savings account just for this trip. And as far as my end goes. It's a done deal! Just waiting for Harbour Lights to give the go ahead. smile

I like the logo that Harry designed for this cruise/reunion.

Kind of Art Deco, and very eye-catching.

Watch for some goodies with the logo available from Harbour Lights. T-Shirts? Mugs? Magnets, coasters?

Boy we would LOVE to go, but I think the price pretty much precludes us from going. Mind you, I'm not saying the price is bad, but having to get room big enough for us plus the two kids,or a second room, plus airfare... Would be tough. Looks like we'd have to miss this one unfortunatly.

Wow! That is some pretty big news!

I hope that there is enough interest and the the reunion is a go. My family will not be able to attend, but it would be a trip of a lifetime if we did.

In my collecting days, I never attended a reunion, but I will never forget to busload of reunion attendees from the Michigan version, stopping out at the Saginaw River Rear Range Lighthouse. Everyone was having such a great time I was sure wishing I was along for the ride....

We're extremely interested IF we will get to see some lighthouses. We've done the Alaska cruise but only saw Eldred Rock and one other light that we couldn't identify. Being with our lighthouse friends, good seminars and seeing lighthouses in Alaska would certainly be reason to cruise again and spend the big bucks! When we went last time we spent as much on the optional excursions as the cruise. If was fabulous!

Most all Cruise Ships have Handicap Staterooms that will accommodate wheelchairs and scooters. And you can excess most, if not all, decks using the elevators. So you shouldn't have any problems with mobility on-board ship.

My husband is in a wheelchair and we have been on many cruises. (Princess, Holland America, Celebrity, Carnival, Fiesta and NCL) Just got back from one through the Panama Canal with NCL. Would not go with them again as they have a new policy that if you are in a wheelchairs and unable to stand they will not take you off the ship when they use a tender and do not dock.
This has never been a problem with any other cruise line. As far as I can tell on this proposed cruise we dock in every port, so should not be a problem. If doing tours from the ship you have to make sure that they are accessible.

I don't think Tony agreed to post anything on Monday -- that was just the moved deadline for responses regarding interest in a POSSIBLE Alaska Reunion Cruise.

The extension was because the information on the possible cruise was sent to the LHD email list; previously, it only went to the HL email list.

I spoke with Tony today - he's still getting 15-25 inquires a day. People asking questions; he responds. Now waiting for their Yes/Maybe/No answers.

He said to say he should have an answer by Mid-June -- guess that's about a week away.

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY, the Alaskan Cruise began....what a Splendid time.
Remember every turn on the cruise ship, walking around Ketchican, Juneau, Skagway, the lighthouse cruises, whale watching, train ride....we were with our friends!!

Share a special moment or 2, or 3, you had on this one-in-a-lifetime-trip!!

We missed it, and all our HL friends. We had just done Alaska in 2010, and were waiting for the arrival of our grandchild Scarlet on June 6th. So were celebrating her 1st birthday this week.
