Does anyone have any more information about the Regional at the St. Augustine Lighthouse Festival in March?
Will there be any dinner or similar get-together with the Younger's like last year's dinner?
Will there be any bus tours to nearby lighthouses?
We'd appreciate any information.... Thanks!

I've got a call in to St. Augustine Lighthouse to ask about a dinner and other special events for Harbour Lights collectors.

Looks like there will be another 'Regional' in Door County. Don't have a date, but I imagine it will co-incide with the Annual Lighthouse Walk.

The home office in El Cajon says it's working on other events, but isn't ready to release a list yet. The list usually comes out the end of January or early February.

St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum is planning on a Friday evening 'event' most probably a dinner for Harbour Lights collectors + the Saturday Lighthouse Festival and signing.

For those planning on making a weekend of it, DaveH and others will pop in here and give you some recommendations on nearby places to stay. Not too early to make reservations -- you can always cancel them if you decide not to go.

So probably dinner Friday the 18th of March. Definitely Lighthouse Festival Saturday the 19th. Any interest in another trip to Cape Canaveral or Amelia or Disney World or ??

I can reccomend the Sleep Inn just down the road from the Lighgthouse.

There were a number of people who stayed there last year and I don't think anybody was disapointed- other than the Pool being closed but what are the odds of that happening again.

The price was very reasonable the continental breakfast was OK and it's near to the Lighgthouse. It's a nice clean , comfortable motel. Nothing fancy but nice.

Dave Hannum put together a great day long trip to Cape Canaveral and Ponce De Leon Lighthouses.

A great time was had by all. Cape Canaveral is very difficult to get into due to it's being on an active base that shoots rockets into the sky, etc.

Hopefully someone can put something together for those going this year. We won't be there as we'll be getting back from Las Vegas the day before this little wingding starts.

I can safely say though all that go will have a great time- try and leave some time to explore St Augustine the town . It's a beautiful place.

I'm game for a trip to the Cape this year since I missed last year's trip.

It looks like there won't be a formal 'Dinner with the Youngers' event at St. Augustine the night before this year.

If WACKOs want to put together a dinner, Michael Cunningham of St. Augustine Lighthouse said he'd be happy to help with some recommendations and logistics on where to have it.

I am very disappointed that we are not having a dinner with the Youngers this year.
The St Auggie lighthouse event that is on Saturday is just too crowded.
Hope there is some event for Harbour light collectors only.
In the past, we had a Breakfast, two boat rides and last year was the dinner.
Even if we all got together with a dinner, it wouldn’t be the same without the youngers.

I was at the St. Augustine Lighthouse on Tuesday (1/18). I talked to the ladies in the gift shop about the new release for the St. Augustine Regional event. They said they didn't know what the piece would look like and that they hadn't even seen a proposed picture of the piece. frown

Just what is posted on the Harbour Lights website. Wonder who is in charge if St. Augustine doesn't even know about it.

Maybe a call to Harbour Lights to find out the particulars......can't tell at this point.

Who said the folks at St. Augustine didn't know about it? That earlier post from two weeks ago was about the Harbour Lights piece, not the event.

Since then the photo of the event piece has been released and the pre-event get together was added.

Call St. Augustine Lighthouse at 904--829-0745.

For a while there the idea of a Friday evening gathering for those attending the Saturday Regional got dropped.

I think both HL and St. Augustine Lighthouse realized that it would be a good thing to put back on the schedule!

Who is planning to attend?

Seems like there should be a specific name of a 'group' of TBHLCC members. Like a covey of quail, or a gaggle of geese.

Let's see a 'gang' of the TBHLCC... No that doesn't work. I know, how about a 'ward' of the TBHLCC! As in a Psycho Ward???

Or when RIP is telling those jokes, maybe it can ge a 'guffaw' of the TBHLCC.

Perhaps we can get St. Tim out of semi-retirement to work on the need for lighthouse club members massing to have such a defined name.

Hmm. An "Augie" of TBLHCC?

Received a post card from St. Augustine Lighthouse folks today. Friday social event is at the light, drinks and hors d'ouerves $20 per person. Also a note that there are "Only 200 on-hand" of the special St. Augustine piece. So, the earlier presumption that some would be flown in for the event appears to have come true.

Sis and I are off to Fl. tomorrow AM! cool Hopefully our flight will get off before the newest predicted storm.
Will be HQ'd at my sister's in Leesburg but expect to travel around often from there.
Also are planning to be at the event at St. Augustine and hope to see many other Forum members and WACKO's there!

Rick,

Have a good trip. sorry we won't be there this year.

We're off to Las Vegas on Monday for a few days- no lighthouses and no Poco on this trip. That's a first for quite some time.

I have missed this event by one day for the past three years. My friends and John and I have been going on cruises every March. It seems I am always in Florida the day after the event.

Once again, I am leaving Saturday for Orlando but will be on the cruise until the 20th. I am going in and out of Port Canaveral. Sooo close...but still a day late. frown

Thanks for the suggestion Daniel but I will be on a cruise ship from March 13-20. One of these years I am going to make it work. At least I was able to spend a couple of nights in St. Augustine in January this year.
