Hi everyone, it's been some time since I've been online with all of you. We've been very busy with Chesapeake Chapter activities (mainly preservation) and attending to family issues. Anyhow, I wanted to let all of you know that I asked Harbour Lights if Bill could attend our challenge this year. We've had Nancy, Kim in the past and a special first-time appearance of Harry last year. Sooooooooo, they have granted my wish, and Bill will be at the Calvert Marine Museum for our 2007 Maryland Lighthouse Challenge both Saturday and Sunday. If you can work a trip into your busy lives, please attend our challenge and support Bill. Tony is working on a special piece for this event with a very limited piece number, but I will leave that news for Tony to release to all of you.
Hope to see a lot of you there, Robert and I will be at Calvert Marine Museum with Bill to greet all of you.

Joyce

Joyce,
I was at the MD Challenge last year. Where is the Calvert Marine Museum? What lighthouse is there?
My memory fails me...
I'm going to try to make it again this year. I have a much better camera now to take pictures with and we had a great time completing it too last year!

Bob,

The museum is in Solomons. Md and they actually have 2 lighthouses there- Drum Point on the grounds of the museum and Cove Point for which you have to take a bus ride.

Does this help jog your memory?

Joyce,

Unfortunately due to circumstances- some beyond my control and some not- we will not be doing any of the challenges this year.

This will be the first NJ lighthouse challenge that we will not either volunteer at or do. I also did or volunteered at the first 3 LI Lighthouse Challenges.

We only made it to one of the MD challenges and didn't officially finish in time- of course we didn't decide to do it until the LI Cruise we were booked on got cancelled due to a hurricane. We got to every LH in MD's challenge except for Turkey Point. We did stop there on monday on our way home but nobody was there to give us our token for some reason.

I'm hoping to do all 3 challenges in 2008.

When is the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge?

It was probably posted and I missed it. Hoping to do some lighthousing by late summer or fall.

The dates this year are Sat 9-15 and Sun 9-16.

Here's a link for information-

http://www.cheslights.org/challenge.htm

One more thing- and i'm not trying to be a smart### but getting this type of information is very simple with many search engines.

Thanks Dennis for the dates!

I know I can find out on my own, but I guess I like to hear it from my lighthouse buddies. Creates conversation. laugh

If nobody replied, I think I can find my way around the net. After all I did plenty of web development over the last 20 years.

I'm EXCITED!! I can't wait to see this piece. I trust and pray that it is another Chesapeake light (which it should be for obvious reasons). vhappy

I have never been to a MD Lighthouse Challenge but have been wanting to attend one for the past 5 years. Perhaps this year my wife and I will finally make it, maybe even as a volunteer.

Looking forward to the challenge and the "special piece"!!!

Thanks so much Joyce. I signed up to work at
the Calvert Museum this year. So if I do will
great to see Bill again. I have met him at
a few signings and he has visited two of my
Lighthouse Clubs. applaud

Joyce, that's exciting news. Way to go! Never hurts to ask, right?

I hope to see you and Robert & Bill at Calvert in September. It was great seeing you last year at Piney Point with Harry.

Sheryl, I'll look for you too!

Judy

Dennis,

Yep..now I remember...it rained and we got soaked on that part of the challenge. The museum provided shelter and shopping while we waited for the rain to subside. This actually was a real good place during the challenge for a break!

Thanks!
