Bill’s second stop this weekend takes him to Door County. There should be just a few lighthouse folks in town for the annual Door County Lighthouse Walk! Looks like this will be Bill’s only visit to Wisconsin this year.

Saturday, May 18
2 PM to 4 PM

Audrey M. Off Gallery/ Framing
40 North 3rd Avenue
Sturgeon Bay WI 54235
920-743-2259

Come and visit with Bill. Remember that this year there will be one special version of the event piece (the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse) given away to a person at each of the signing events. You have to be present to win, and you have to buy an LE or event piece from that store to qualify for the drawing.

Anyone going to be able to make these events? Bet Jim Johnston will be there advocating for HL to produce a certain “favored” lighthouse! Which other collectors will be able to make this event? Cana Fan will be in town. How about Suzanne and any other Wisconsin folks? Sign in, and don’t forget to leave a report after the event.

Dave

The Brady's will be at this one, also... I hope to have pictures of the event in this thread by Saturday night late or early Sunday....

Ours are now packed in my camera bag, which not only looks like a suitcase but is bigger than our suitcase...

Nice pic's and an excellent one of bill outside. Congrat's to the Nolen's on their gold and good luck on the recruitment. During our Nancy event here in Webster/Houston we met the CG Commander of Sturgeon Bay while HL was taking the pics for the Sturgeon Bay piece. Unfortunately I left that one at home. The good thing is he teaches Sea School down the road from here so I can get him to sign it another time. I think Sturgeon Bay is one of the coolest pieces in my collection.

There seemed to be a pretty good turnout for this event. Quite a few hung aroung 'til the drawing at the end. Made for close quarters in such a small place. Now Paul just has to post the picture of that little cutey that helped out with the drawing. (Sorry Paul, I'm a little partial to that one) Seemed like the Brady's and the Walshes were the only Wackos present, unless there were some I missed.

As for the Lighthouse walk, the word is COLD!Saturday wasn't to bad, but Sunday was cloudy, windy, cold and by the time we got to Cana Island late in the day, SNOWY! Hard to believe it was the middle of May. Word is it was the coldest walk in 12 years. Turnout seemed to be a little light, at least thats what I got at the land based lighthouses. Eagle Bluff did well, but it pretty much always does.
Word is that the Coast Gaurd is decommissioning all of the Door County Lights, and with the exception of the Sturgeon Bay, and Sherwood light, all will be considered excess property. The D.C. Maritime Museum is trying to get caretaker status for Plum and Pilot Island lights. We'll have to see what happens.

Didn't see you Cana Fan, but I was there too! Even though it was cold I had a great time at the lighthouse walk, at the Bill In-store event and at Keepers & Kin on Saturday night! The cold didn't stop me from walking out to the end of Sturgeon Bay canal station pier and getting a few photos. At least the sun was out and it wasn't raining! On Sunday, the beach at Newport State park was sunny and warm (in a secluded bay)!

(I didn't check in earlier because I was too busy planning my son's Boy Scout Eagle Ceremony reception before I left for Door County. The ceremony was May 20th)

I also was at the event!! I didn't see any WACKO badges and I haven't gotten mine yet. It was a little cramped in there, but their were many great pictures to look at to pass the time. And yes it was a COLD weekend. We went to Cana Island early Saturday morning and froze walking across the cause-way!! The boat trip to Rock Island we intended to take was caneled...good thing though because we had "free" time to go to the Bill event
