Suzanne or John C., Do either of you know if this piece is only going to be sold at this event (the lighthouse walk) or will it also be available like a regular piece, It appears to have a regular edition number. And also if it will be sold also in the traditional manner too, will the pieces sold at the event benefit the local club or a lighthouse group?

I am still waiting for a few answers from Harbour Lights. I know that the edition size will be 2000 and the price will be about $60. The special label is only supposed to be available during the walk from Door County dealers. After that I think the piece will be available from other dealers without the special label. When I get more answers, I will post them.

Mark, according to the H.L. newsletter, it will be as Suzanne stated above. Only 100 or so will have the Lighthouse Walk sticker and the rest will be from your normal dealer like any other L.E. I Assume those on autoship will get there regular number, and the higher numbers will be available at the walk, but this is only my assumption.

Mike

And B.T.W, The Mill is has great food. It's a regular place for our family, especially for the Friday night fish fry.

Broasted food at the Supper Club? Yup, that's Wisconsin! Have fun everyone who's going and don't miss a breakfast prepared by Judy and Suzanne as they sure did a great job last year! Will there be another shower scene this year????
Guess it's time to get out the cheesehead beer cooler (it was low 80's here today) and offer a toast to these fine folks for the great job they do in putting together this event! smile

I sure wish I could make it this year, but with the building started on the new house and waddling around at 25 weeks pregnant, and all my money spent on the West Coast the last two weeks, I'm going to miss you guys. Hope you have as good of weather as last year's!

Pottawatomie Lighthouse has its 4th order Fresnel Lens! It was installed on May 10th.

On Sunday May 22nd, members of WILD will probably take the ferry to Washington Island and the next Ferry to Rock Island and then hike to Pottawatomie to see the new lens installed in the lantern room.

I am doing something different this year...I am bring my 2 1/2 (going on 10 eek ) year old grand daughter with me. She has grown up in a house with lighthouses as a main focus, and she has never been to a "real" one, so off we go!!!!

I just know we will have a great time cool

Anyway, I look forward to seeing all that are coming, and missing all those that can't make this year!

And I will miss being there this year. But with the Apostle Island Boat Tour and the 2005 Reunion coming along very soon, I just can't swing it. But I'll be thinking of all of you.

Well, I heard there's been a mix-up. Kim missed a flight to Green Bay yesterday and was driving in from GB to Sturgeon Bay this morning.

Looks like the Collector Dinner last night went on without her.

Our first stop of the day was Oscar's for a Kim signing. We ran into some fellow WILD club members and a very big sturgeon wearing a Red Hat, oh well, it is in Sturgeon Bay!

Later at Audrey's, Kim presents a couple with their thumbnail of the event piece.. Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse, DE!

Kim is signing event pieces with assistance from Audrey.. These were lights going to several people on the forums. I recognized several names on the post-its on the boxes.. Like Bob Ott, your brand new Red Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Pierhead Light now is signed!!

The size of the crowd grew as the 4pm Gold drawing hour approached.. A lot of Wackos were present...

After the signing, the Bradys and Kim went over to the real Sturgeon Bay Pierhead Light and I shot my first Kim picture in front of the lighthouse holding the light replica..

At the tower I shot my second Kim photo in front of the lighthouse holding the light replica..She was joined by Keeper Henry, who was dressed for the Door County Walk at the light... Keeper Henry also is a WILD club member and came the the dinner later.

Speaking of the dinner, Autumn, Pam's grand-daughter, seems to really be enjoying the dinner with Grandma.

Yes, Saint Tim was there and daring me not to shoot him eating the very good chicken..

Mike and family share their table's chicken with Jodie (Hoosier Lighthousing Club member).. A really good time was had by all. After the dinner a lot of great prizes were given away, including a Gold Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse!

The event piece is the red Sturgeon Bay Pier Lighthouse Bob, the one that Kim's holding in front of the actual lighthouse. (Maybe Paul had one too many....pieces of chicken?) It sure looks good!

Nice to see some familiar faces! Thanks Paul.

Well, the event piece at the stores was the Fourteen Foot Bank DE piece. The Sturgeon Bay North Pierhead was introduced during the lighthouse walk. About 100 were available at 3 locations (mostly AMO Galleries), but it wasn't an official 'regional event' so there wasn't an official event piece for the weekend.

The Gold piece given away at the in-store events is a gold-plated pewter version of the Little Light of Fourteen Foot Bank DE.

John is correct except that there were two Gold pieces given away on Saturday, both were Gold Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouses (the tower part). One at Audrey's Gallery and the second one at the dinner.. The other two stores were signing events only.. Images of the Gold winners will be in either the new on-line Legacy or a future Kim's email..

BTW we just arrived home in Indy, long day but a beautiful one.

We stopped at a few Lake Winnebago lights on the way home, I will post images tomorrow..

It's tomorrow and I am posting images..

On the way home I decided to try for a little closer spot along shore to shoot the Green Bay Entrance Light and I am glad I did..

While shooting through a bit of a haze, I about doubled my image size with my new camera from the one I shot on the Mackinaw boat launch trip. It was very noisy with fish splashing all about..

I now know the reason they call the area around here Sturgeon Bay.. The Sturgeon were paired off and spawning along the shore..

There were a least a dozen pairs near the shore in front of me and I could see the water splashing both ways, as far as I could see...

For mom, I got a shot of some of the Lilac bushes which were now in full bloom in Wisconsin..

Onward to Lake Winnebago..

Neenah Lighthouse

Bray's Point Lighthouse

Fond du Lac Lighthouse

We only made it to three of the lights before we had to head home, since we wouldn't get home until after 11PM from there..

Paul,

Thanks for sharing the recap and the montage ...

Its an area I am not familiar with, lights I don't ever get to see "first hand."

Much appreciated.

Paul, where did you walk to get the one of Bray's Point? When I was there last year, I pulled up to the curb of the people's house and shot it through their yard as there were "NO Tresspassing" signs everywhere.

Paul,

Your photo of Bray's Point Lighthouse is really beautiful. That would make a wonderful CF piece, by the way.

And my question is the same as Jen's. How did you manage to get the shot? Or are the people still tied up in their basement?

Sure had a nice time at both events. Was fun to see some familiar faces and meet a few new ones. Hope we can do it again next year. Maggie had fun drawing the numbers for the raffles and names for the Gold. Unfortunatly, rubbing her head for good luck didn't work for me with the Gold! We're all looking forward to the Reunion!

The signs were only on the yard of the house to the West of the opening to the water and since the light went with the boat house of the house to the East, I walked out along their boathouse to the water's edge..

Paul,

Even so, you are probably lucky that you didn't meet the end of a double barreled shotgun. laugh

I would just show them my Hoosier Lighthousing membership card and everything would be OK.. In fact we would probably have signed them up as new members before I was through sweet talking them...

Good job, Paul.

Keep up your positive endeavors. I understand that folks do a lot of that in Washington D.C. cool

Oops, sorry! Wrong event. I was thinking of the Door County Event, not the store signing events! shocked Hard to even think of those events here in CNY as we haven't had one here in many years. frown

Paul, that wasn't any 'couple' with Kim, it was us! Great shots of the events at AMO Gallery event and the collectors dinner. We sure had a great time at both.

We met with many of last years attendees and also some new faces for us as well. We want to give a BIG thank you to Suzanne, Judy, and the rest of the WILD crew for putting together such a fun get-together!

We also have a ton of pictures from our weekend in Door County...just need to get some time to sort through and post them!

Paul, are sure those were sturgeon spawning? The scales really make them look like carp.
Just thought I would ask.

Looked like Sturgeon to me but then they were all acting wild and crazy at the time.. And since I wasn't far from Sturgeon Bay I just put two and two and got thousands of eggs going every where..

I just wanted to thank everyone for the nice card that you sent to me, I was very touched! smile I really wish I could have been up there with you, but my injuries forced us to stay home. Looks like the weather turned out to be wonderful for the event. I still have a ways to go, but on my way to recovery. With any luck we are hoping to get up to Door County at the end of the summer.
Thanks Agian,
Jessica

A great time had by all!

Jessica, I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend..

Paul, after your photo of us, Autumn got to talk to her mother, and then she started to "act up", (typical), but with a time out she did fine! She is still talking about her lighthouses that she saw! I am still glad that I took her this last weekend.

It was great to see everyone again!! cool

Hello,

I really enjoyed seeing the photos. It's nice that I can recognize a few faces. Looks like everyone had a good time. Wish we could have gone, but we decided that it was too close to our upcoming vacation.
