In past years Bill's signing event calendar has not been announced until March. In another thread discussing the signing event piece, it was noted that the initial calendar may be available by early next wek.

Something that everyone should realize is that there will be fewer and fewer Bill events each year as Bill and Nancy try to enjoy a well deserved retirement.

With the sale of Harbour Lights came an agreement that the Youngers would still do the In-Store signings. At the time, we suspected that it would be a 2-year agreement, and then after that, the Youngers would be fully retired. We have already been confirmed with a "Bill" signing event again in 2007, and we will certainly be stressing the possibility that this may be the final time to get a "Bill Younger" signed piece. We have not heard any rumors/confirmations from Harbour Lights yet to back our suspicions. If we are correct, look for fewer "Bill" events in 2007, and more with Harry Hine. Of course, that's not to say they couldn't entice Bill to return for a Regional Event in 2008.

Well, I can't say I'm happy to see the Lighthouse Gallery's signing (Nag's Head) set for August 12th. It's been in the spring for a bunch of years which made it reasonable to attend. Nags Head is not a drop by location. You pretty much have to stay overnight. In the spring, the rates are reasonable. In August, they're ridiculously high.

May have to skip it this year.

Whoever is doing the LI Lighthouse Challenge has a real challenge set for them- the schedule says they'll be there from 1 AM to 3:30 PM. laugh

There's a couple of others that go from !:00 PM to 3:30 PM confused

I think somebody forgot to proofread the list.

Looks like I won't make any this year- I'll be in FL in March but in Orlando when the event is going on and then in Eustis, FL when the signing at the Bronze Lady happens.

I'm not sure about the LI Challenge- i'm trying to change my schedule for that so it's possible.

I'll be in Ireland the weekend of the Nj challenge- actually flying home on the Sunday of the Challenge.

It's nice to see a few events within driving distance for Lorna & I. We didn't attend any events last year due to some family health issues. Perhaps that will change this year (hopefully!).

Yes, we folks in Colorado are very, very excited about Harry's coming!

As far as Bill and Nancy, it would be nice to have one last reunion with them so we can all give them a nice retirement farewell. It is hard to imagine HL without them. They truly have been the heart and soul of Harbour Lights.

I look forward to meeting any of them...I have met Harry last year twice, once during the MD Challenge and once during the NJ Challenge.
I see that they don't have anyone lined up for the MD Challenge this year...at least as of yet.

Well, I know it's kind of early, but I was hoping for at least a few events around the Great Lakes area. Maybe some will be added. I like the Regional locations, should be able to make both and I hope some of the Youngers are there.

Looks like Nags Head, NC for me this year. A four hour drive versus 15 minutes down the street to my dealer at the nearest mall. As a previous post stated, hotels are extremely high there in August with rooms at a minimum of $150 a night and demand is up since it is peak season there. Still a toss up if I go this year or not.

I'm very disappointed in the way that Florida collectors have been shunned for the last 2 years. We have the St Augustine and Bronze Lady signings the same weekend for the 2nd year in a row. This is fine as long as you have the entire weekend to drive around. What happened to the yearly signing that we had in Jacksonville at Edgewater Treasures? They are the largest dealer in the northern Florida-southern Georgia area and should be given a signing.

Have to remember all the areas that have lots of collectors and have had excellent signing events in the past, but have not had any in recent years. As Bill cuts way back on how many signings he will do each year, this has to be expected. Remember, this is Bill & Nancy's retirement time and I think maybe they would like to enjoy it while they can. Expect even fewer signing events for next year if we are fortunate enough to have any.

Just let me know which event you plan on attending and I'll make sure to have a cake for you!! Colorado Stationers (the Friday evening 6-8 event) is closest. Just take the Arapahoe Rd exit, go West, turn right at Yosemite which is the first or maybe second light after going under I25. Colorado Stationers Hallmark is on the right side of Yosemite.

On behalf of Tony Constantino: Re: 2007 In store Events

I have read the comments about the 2007 Events; I understand everyone’s disappointment and concerns.

In 2007, our Field Sales Representatives managed Events; my responsibility was to manage the “human resources” available to me, more than geography.

There are several accounts that Bill has made commitments to and is still honoring to this day!

I welcomed Kim Andrews’s willingness to assist and have to “guard” Harry’s time, we need Harry to develop product! Bill and Nancy have planned several trips and while still very active are taking sometime for themselves. Well deserved!

To answer the question: “Will Bill be making appearances in 2008?” At this writing, while on a limited basis the answer is yes!

That said Harbour Lights is beginning to develop a spectacular Marketing initiative for 2008! One of the major goals of this initiative is to reach out to more Collectors!

Are "Gold's" given away at "Rep" events? I've never been to a Rep only event and am curious.

Per Tony Constantino:
2007 Rep Event Sandollar Shop

I have long considered Field Sales Representative “ambassador” for the companies they represent! Over the course of the past twenty-six years, I am amazed at the relationships and friendships some Reps have with Collectors.

The Sandollar Shop is privileged to have as their Sales Representative, Jacque Cater, who has represented Harbour Lights since it s founding!

The Sandollar Shop will have the Event Replica, the Regional Replica, the latest intros and of course the gold!

I have to travel to go to any of the events. But I am hoping to be able to attend more events in the future.

Thanks for the info Tony. I usually travel to Virginia the first part of June to visit my mother, so if I am able to go this year, I will make it a point to head over to the Sandollar for the event! smile

. . . to find Madiera Beach
Near St. Petersburg.

Take Central Ave over the causeway, onto Treasure Island. Turn right onto Gulf Blvd. When you cross the bridge, you are in Madeira Beach. "Village Blvd" is in John's Pass Village, immediately on your right.

I used to live in St Pete Beach.

The lens SHOULD be arriving on Friday at Harbour Lights, along with the remainder of this set of new releases. Shipments to dealers should begin on March 15,16. Should arrive in plenty of time for Apr. 7th.

TO JIM - Once your Cape Cod vacation is finalized, e-mail us. We'll let you know which lighthouses are open for climbing while you're here. . . . We go to Sanibel every January, staying on Captiva, but eating lunch at the lighthouse a few days.
