Here's a few more pictures after the LI regional on Sunday.

John and I, Ken Reese and Bryan Acree stopped to view Cedar Island. The view from the park was quite far out (about 1 1/2 miles). We all decided to see if we could somehow get onto the beach and drive down to the light. It was a good thing we rented a 4-wheel-drive! We found a path through the campground and hit the beach.

It was nice to get a closer view.

This is a picture of John Roe, Ken Reese, and Bryan Acree.

John and I took the ferry Sunday night to New London, CT. We had a nice calm ride over with several other HL wackos. That is a good way to see more lighthouses.

On Monday morning we decided it was such a beautiul day that we would take the hi-speed ferry from Point Judith to Block Island.

Here is a couple of photos from Point Judith.

Great photos again Lorie! Is that a NELL shirt John is wearing in that photo?

Great pictures Lorie! Thanks for sharing them. I'd like to get out to Long Island one of these days and do some lighthousing.

Shirin...that is a NELL shirt that John has on. He bought it from Ron Foster. Most people in Utah look at it and don't know what it is. He likes telling them about the lens on the front of the shirt.

Well I must say John has great taste for his lighthouse apparel! Nice to see a NELL shirt has made it out to Utah.

That shirt does have a nice way of starting conversations. Many times I have to explain the shirt when I wear mine as well. Those poor people who get me started on lighthouses never know what hit them.

Great pictures Lorie. It's nice to see that you took the initiative to get closer. It was great seeing you and John again and congratulations on winning a #14 LE. Sounds like you had a great time. Talk to you soon.

Wow Lorie, where's that first lighthouse? lol
You got lucky getting a 4-wheel drive out there without getting arrested. Beach permits etc are usually strictly enforced. You must have found a gap in Park Security? I've only seen park vehicles in that area in the past.
Glad you made it out there, what did you think of Cedar Island LH.

Well Bob...we decided to take the "beg for forgiveness" approach over the "ask for permission" tactic. smile

No one seemed to mind (or no one was around to notice)us driving out there except the girl that was sun bathing topless. eek

The lighthouse has beautiful stonework. I can see that it will still need a lot of donations and work on it to get it cleaned up. The only problem seems to be able to get people to take the walk out to the lighthouse to appreciate it's beauty,(unless they take it upon themselves to drive out the beach).

That's cool, Lorie! So what's with you guys and topless/nude beaches? That's Maui, Fire Island and Cedar Beach that I know about? lol
I would have loved to have seen your faces when you unexpectedly drove by the latest? eek lol
I'm surprised Byran or Ken didn't comment on the Forums? wink
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. The lighthouse that is. I think it's a real gem!
We're looking into a nature boardwalk ala Fire Island, or boat or ... to get to the LH. The Piping Plovers nesting are the big problem.

Hey Bob -- I've got a good recipe for 'Piping Plover'. That might solve the problem for 'ya.
