Everyone say a prayer for those living in New Orleans or along the northern Gulf Coast. Personally, My wife and I live just west of Galveston and it appears we'll be spared the brunt of the storm (crossing fingers) but we really feel for those up the coast from us.

On a lesser note, keep in mind the Louisiana lighthouses. There are so few of them left. Actually, the Weather Channel is broadcasting from Morgan City, which is predicted to be a direct-hit area, and the Southwest Reef light can be seen behind the reporter. This could also be tough on the New Canal restoration in New Orleans or what's left of Sabine Pass, if it goes further west. I don't know if Sabine could handle another possible Cat. 4 or 5 hurricane.

However, while I love my Gulf Coast lighthouses and I am concerned about them, the most important thing is those living along the Gulf Coast. Let's just keep everyone in our prayers.

Hoping and praying Gustav slows down to a Cat 1 or less by landfall. Also praying that if it's going to hit a part of the gulf, it hits a spot that affects the least amount of people, pets and wildlife.

Gustav is down to 115 mph, still a Cat. 3, but nowhere near the near-Cat. 5, 150 mph it was yesterday. I agree, hopefully it continues to lose its momentum as it gets closer.

Our hope is that the levee's hold in New Orleans this time. The citizens of New Orleans are just now starting to get their lives back and here it goes again..

We met some fantastic people at the Regional in June and our prayers are with them!

It is sad that they have to go through this again. They will be in our thoughts and prayers too.

Hurricane Gustav is expected to hit today with 115 MPH winds Cat 3.
15% of us Oil refineries are located in that area and has closed down since Sunday. At this time 1.9 million have left. Main roads leading into New Orleans have been closed allowing all lanes for exiting. Opening all lanes up for the evacuation is something that was learned from the great Jacksonville exodus that happened around 8 years ago. At that time Jacksonville was on record as the largest Exodus of the time. New Orleans has now surpassed it. By the way the Jacksonville Exodus ended up being pretty much a false alarm.
I hope the Gustav exodus is but at this time it doesn't look good for New Orleans and the other coastal cities in that vicinity.

Our Thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of Gustav. Also those in the path of Hannah. We have been trying to watch the news as much as possible. So far the levee's are holding up but the water level is high.

This is obvious God answering our prayers. Gustav was coming at New Orleans stronger than Katrina and when it finally hit it was down graded to a CAT 1 and quickly went to a topical storm. The dikes held and they are now talking about when the people can come home.
