My wife's brother and my brother-in-law in Dallas received word today that he has colon cancer which has spread to the liver and tailbone.

The prognosis isn't good. They are operating on Friday (1-8-2000).

Please say a prayer for Gary Yike.

Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts. Gary underwent surgery this evening in Plano.

The news was not good. Doctor said it would be a matter of weeks. The goal is to stabilize him so he can go home and spend some time with his family.

Gary & Kathryn have two children under age 14.

MJ and I have you all (Yikes & Chidesters) in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

Gary did go home today (1/14/2000). He must return daily for radiation, as we understand it, but he will be able to be in his home with his family for a while.

I will pray for the love of God to be with and comfort your families. At this time, the most important ministry is the ministry of presence. While we cannot all be physically there, think of us standing next to each and every one of you- our hand is on your shoulder and we are there to support you in every way.

It's been about 75 days since I originally posted this request and Gary is still with us, although it appears close to the end.

Your continued thoughts and Prayers for Gary Yike of Richardson TX, his wife and their two children and his mother and two sisters during this time will be very much appreciated.

Gary passed away today - 4 months to the day I first posted this request. We praise God for his life and ask Him to watch over and comfort his wife Catherine, daughter Jamie, and son Ian.

In addition to his wife and children, Gary's mother and sister, Pam, were with him for the last few days. Suzie, my wife was with him for a day two weeks ago.

although you knew it was coming, it is never easy to live with it when it actually happens. Please know that MANY prayers are going out to Gary's family!! My wish is for God's spirit to be with all of you and be comforted by his memories.

May God guide and comfort his family and friends in their time of sorrow. May He grant Gary's soul restful peace.

May Gary rest in the arms of the Lord, and may the Lord give the Yike and Chidester families strength and peace to carry them through this heartbreak.
