Had a nice visit with Fred Kuhlman yesterday...spent the afternoon chatting about our local club, our collections, the latest pieces, even managed to coax him into unpacking and showing me his stashed-away CH1 (#100) to behold and even handle! What a treat! Had never seen the real thing before, just pics...the mystique of this piece, so rare and elusive, so ugly and skinny, it's BEAUTIFUL! Thanks, Fred!

Thanks for the update about Fred. I spoke to him a few weeks back on the telephone. I thought he was going to get back on the Net and visit once in awhile but his presence hasn't been noted.

We miss you, Fred!

Thank you for the kind words. And thanks for reminding me - that's what a collection is all about. I've meaning to put them out (CH1 and Coquille) for months, just never got around to it.

Fred, you must bring them to Baltimore for all to see! Please? Only kidding, I wouldn't want to be responsible for transporting them across country. Seriously, I hope HL has a display of the Holy Grail at the Reunion?

I would say there is a very distinct possibilty that Harbour Lights will have a display of every piece they ever made (one of each that is) at the upcoming reunion. It is very inspiring for new collectors to see all the pieces together. That's what got me motivated to "get them all".

Good point Bob - hope there is such a display. When I started collecting HL had not published a brochure yet showing all the LEs. We went to a Bill event at the Cupola House in Egg Harbor - there we saw a display with every HL made to date except Coquille. WoW! What a treat. For the first time I laid eyes on the likes of Hilton Head, Southeast Block Island, Burrows, CH 1 & 2, Barnegat, etc. Had no idea which ones were rare or secondary value. I spent three hours going from one the next just staring at them. It was so cool.

Nowadays with the green book and HL brochures most folks get to see the early models. But the real thing is worth a thousand pictures. If Fred doesn't bring his collection, I hope HL has 'em.

Nice to see you at the chat Fredster.

I'd like to see Pt. Vicente, CA piece that
was bought at the first reunion. Does HL have one of these? OR Was there just ONE?

Derith,

I'm surprised no one posted a reply. There were two Pt. Vincentes' made. One went at the 1st reunion auction. The second was gifted to the lady at the lighthouse (am I right here, guys). Supposedly, those were the only 2 made. No APs, no backups, no display, unless someone could talk Betty into bringing it to the reunion. The mundane jobbers like CH1, CH2, Coquille, the Southern Belles, and of course, the Golden Godess will probably be on display (Under the watchful eye of Closed circuit TV, a pack of raging Rottweillers, Three County Mounties, and several hundred drooling collectors). Personaly, a display case of bulletproof glass and a division of Marines in full battle dress might suffice.

Now that this thread has been brought to the top, lets see if anything falls out.

I for one have never seen most of the "older" HL's. It will be a real treat to be able to see them. Oh you meant lighthouses, Fred. Thought you meant collectors!
