Sorry for the additional delay.... Mardi Gras got in the way! LOL

We did not go to Progreso, we went to Cozumel and Calica.

One small group heading out to visit Cozumel. We had to get our picture made with the ships name before leaving the dock. Pictured here (left to righ) is myself, another hatter Sylvia, my half-sister Sandra, my Red Hat Chapter Queen Llene, and my cousin Berniece in the wheelchair.

The Lighthouse in downtown San Miguel, Cozumel. EL FARO DE PUNTA LANGOSTA

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cozumel.

A rest stop taken over by tired hatters!

A shot of the ship just before leaving Cozumel.

Ariving at port in Calica the next morning. This is a new port and as you can see it is just a big hole that has been cut out of the Limestone rock. It is more of an excavation and shipping port than a Cruise Ship Dock.

This is all there is at the port, just the Port Athority Building. You have to be transported by bus or taxi from here to town.

From Calica I took a shore excurison by bus to the Mayan Ruins of Tulum.

There where iguanas everywhere!

The Mayan Lighthouse at Tulum
(read about it at http://jbcphotos.com/Lighthouses/s-z/tulum.html )

A view from down below on the beach.

The modern Lighthouse at Tulum. I had to climb one of the outer walls of the Ruins to get this shot. Would have loved to walk down the beach to get a better shot, but did not have time. Didn't want the bus to leave without me!

How about this big boy! I would love to have taken him home with me!!!

After retuning to the ship I still had time to take a taxi into the town of Playa del Carmen. Where I did some shopping and visited the Lighthouse.

EL Faro Lighthouse in Playa del Carmen
Date unknown. Active; focal plane 17 m (56 ft); three white flashes every 12 s. 16 m (52 ft) conical concrete tower, painted white; lantern red. This privately built lighthouse has a unique modern design with a stairway that spirals up the exterior of the tower.
(read about it here http://www.lighthousedepot.com/lite_expl...hcd2=1235600469 )

The Lighthouse and Resort are under construction therefore I did not get to climb it. But was told that construction should be compleat in two months and that the Lighthouse would be open to the public. So I guess I'll just have to go back again!!!
