August 19th:

Priscilla, Bill's daughter called today with an update on Bill. He is still in Mariner Health Care, 926 Haben Blvd.,Palmetto, FL 34221. He is so appreciative of all your cards and calls by definition, "they make his day." Keep 'em comin"!!!

From the doctor's test results, Bill has been having mini strokes for quite some time. They were so mild, he was not aware of them and altho' he would tell you otherwise, he is beginning to progress. He can lift his left arm almost up to his shoulder level and sit by himself on the side of the bed. While this may not sound like much, at this time, it is a good accomplishment. He can transfer himself from the bed to the chair by positioning himself correctly. His daughter sees improvements that Bill doesn't see. He has a Doctor appointment on the 27th. Priscilla took her grandson up to see him today and she said it really perked Bill up.

The weekends are the most frustrating for Bill as the staff is less and there is only a short therapy on Sat. He wants to be totally recovered, NOW! and we all know that will take time.

Please continue to hold Bill in your prayers and send cards if you have a minute.

Try to check on Bill at least once a week...if anyone tries to call him..remember he has therapy during the day..so night is the best time to call.

I spoke with Bill yesterday. He asked that his appreciation be expressed to everyone for ALL the cards & well wishes. He is still trying to come to Baltimore! He said he may still be in a wheelchair. I told him "with all the GREAT people who collect H.L. there would be plenty of help for him if he could make it." He continues to need all the prayers from everyone to be able to come.

Over the weekend I had a call from Bill's daughter. He has moved into another room and the report is that he is improving and feeling better. Good News.....keep those cards going his way....

I got a call from Bill this morning. His doctor has told him he should not go to the Reunion in early October - needs a few more weeks to recuperate.

Bill is a bit broken up about this, as you can imagine.

Cards and phone calls would be welcome I'm sure. Let's get together at the Reunion and all sign a big get-well card for Oseabee.

I spoke with Bill again this afternoon - he's sounding a bit better but said today was a 'blue' day. I'm sure he'd enjoy a phone call during the daytime or early evening (Eastern Time Zone). His direct number is 941-721-4225

He says the Doctor told him on Monday that he could go home and take the Physical Therapy at home rather than stay in the care factility. Not sure how long that may be though before he's home.

The Doc did tell him he could probably make one of the Florida Lighthouse Association tours coming up. I told him not to be jogging up the stairs at any of those lighthouses.

Now he's looking forward to the NEXT Reunion.
