Seems as though we just did this, guess it was a year ago already. Anyway, hope all the Mom's had a great day. I did the big bed change hanging all outside to dry so will have a nice sweet smelling bed tonight. Also received no HL's, just two phone calls and a buck from I.O. (He picked Davis Love while I picked Jesper Parnevik. Of course CBS had to cut the playoff short before it was over!)

Hope all the Mom's had a great Mother's Day! Received Esopus Meadows from my boys & a print of a photo of Nauset Beach.

Best was choosing a trip from Norwalk CT on a boat this AM to visit Sheffield Island lighthouse, my husbands other suggestion was to play golf. That I can do anytime, but visiting a lighthouse I haven't seen is special!

My Mother's Day was not going too great. My grandmother, who is 87, has not been very well lately. I had just visited her on Saturday and got to thinking that she probably won't be with us for Mother's Day next year. My own mother passed away 5 years ago after an extended illness. Mother's Day was just one of those days where everything reminded me that very soon I will be the oldest mother in our family (and I am only 39). We had a beautiful church service that morning, but I was still feeling rather blue (which is unlike me). Fortunately, my husband and kids surprised me with a HUGE framed painting of Portland Head LH. That really cheered me up. For some reason, I really had no desire to be with anyone other than my husband and kids that afternoon, so we took a drive up the Mississippi River to Pere Marquette State Park. If you have never been along that drive, it runs north along the river (it's part of the Great River Road) and is quite scenic. There is even a mock lighthouse at Elsah, Illinois (non functioning). There is a bike path adjacent to the highway. There were sailboats out on the river. The sun was shining and it was a delightful day. By the time we got home, I was in much better spirits and ended up having a MUCH better day than I thought that I would. This day was truly a testament to the power of family and the love that I have for them. I'm so grateful for a loving husband and kids- I wish all the same for you!
