In rememberance of this day,this area is receiving the USS Wisconsin Battleship today as a permanent memorial and showcase for the military in the area in downtown Norfolk.What a fitting tribute to all the fine people who gave their lives for the country

My Dad often talks of his WWII experiences and how it all started with Pearl Harbor. The State of Massachusetts also has a "Pearl Harbor Survivor Registration Plate". The plate can only be issued to an actual survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I'm sorry to say I only know of one such plate in my home town. The years are fast claiming those who fought so bravely back then.

God bless all those who fought to make this country the greatest country in the world.

This tragic day got my Dad to enlist over the objection of my grandmother (who already had her two older sons serving), and become a Navy Pilot in the Pacific. My Dad took my Mom back there on there 25th Anniversay, and although the beauty of Hawaii was there for my Mom, I could see from the pictures he took that this day played a major role in his life.

I hope the movie being released, can come close to telling the story and honoring those who where tragically involved on this day.

The mast of the USS West Virginia sits in a central location in the main WVU campus. They hold a nice memorial service every year on this day.

Bob (rscroupe)... My dad also joined as a direct result of Pearl. He later became an engineer with a B17 squadron and flew many "sorties" in Asia. For those who served in Pearl that fateful day, you have my deepest respect and admiration.

Here's a unique (but true) story about my father and his brother who were both drafted into the service for WWII. My uncle was drafted into the Army, and my father was drafted into the US Navy (yes they did draft for the USN at that time). TO make a long story short, my grandmother told my father it was nice of him to send a picture of BOTH him and his brother in SanFran. As it turns out, my father, on shore leave, was sitting at a table in a pub with his back to bar while his brother was leaning at the bar facing the camera. Neither knew the other was there until they returned home from the war!!
