Most WACKOs go on trips and visit as many lighthouses as possible. I’m planning an extended trip by automobile (it's difficult to travel by any other means when you're on oxygen) in the Oct/Nov. time frame. I have a batch of relatives and dear friends on my itinerary.

I might get a glimpse of a lighthouse or two, but I would also like to get a glimpse of a WACKO or two (newbies. saints, etc. also accepted). Depending upon location, time of day, etc. I'd love to share a meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) if I'm near your area.

My three big dogs are down to one, but Kahlua (Louie, to her friends) and I will be traveling as follows:

Lv San Jose, CA around Oct. 4th/5th Layover Denver - Colorado Springs
Next stop Des Moines, IA
Stopping at every lighthouse between here and there might take a bit of time. So, no time schedule is planned.
On to Kalamazoo, MI (Yes, Dorothy! There is a Kalamazoo)
Don't know how long all this will take. There's a lot of family to.......

Visit the Scyracuse,NY region
Then the near Providence, RI area
Hello Baltimore, MD
Back to Kalamazoo via Dayton,OH
Recuperate and restoke the fires at my son and daughter-in-law's hearth. Then back to Calif.

First stop Indianapolis, IN
Followed by Birmingham, AL
A few more stops in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX region
Touch base at Scottsdale, AZ
Give them a bad time in EL Cajon, CA.
Wonder who that could be

At long last home to San Jose and The San Francisco Bay Area. Somewhere before Thanksgiving.

If you can figure out when I will be in your area, "You're a better man then me, Gunga Din". But if you live along that route and would like me to drop in and perhaps share a meal at a local diner: send me an E-mail. I should have cell phone and can touch base as the time approaches. I will add to, delete, or change any portion depending upon any one of numerous factors.

Fred, I am not sure of your routes, but if you come near me, stop by - half hour south of Canton Ohio.

Hey Fred, I know you included Scottsdale, AZ on the itinerary 'cause you're going to be stopping in to see me (and I've got the place to stay, too.)

When the time comes, I'll round up the AZ WACKOs and we can find a WACKO restaurant for a get-together.

Will you be taking the notebook computer? If not, you can call me and I'll keep everyone informed on your progress.

Bill will be in for a signing on October 22 if that works out.

Hey Fred,
I'm disappointed that you won't be in the Tampa Bay area so we can share a meal. Maybe your next trip will extend down this far. Hope to see you at another HL function.

Gee Fred, I would love to see you again since I never got a chance to meet you at Grosse Point. (you were busy giving hugs & talking to friends) The only problem is I think we will be in Florida during the time you will be here. If for some reason we don't leave for Fl. before you make it here I'm sure St. John will let me know and we can have a get together. Have a great trip Fred.

You will be on the guest list of course, Dave. I hope to have a couple of days warning from Fred and we will have a few Hoosier Lighthousing folks over at the Museum when Fred hits Indy.

You guys on the left coast (which includes AZ) either need to re-read Fred's timeline or get a new calendar. When I look at Fred's post I figure he will probably hit AZ about the 2nd week in November. He isn't starting his trip until October and AZ is at the end of his timeline not the beginning.

Hi Fred, sounds like a great trip. If you decide to travel through Long Island on your way From Providence to Baltimore, I'd love to meet you.

Like Mombo, I am looking foward to Fred being in our neck of the woods. We will have a mini-wacko meeting when he gets here.

Great to hear from you Fred. It doesn't sound like you're going to get too close to Jackson, TN, but let me know when and if you will be anywhere nearby. I'd love to get together.

First stop: Indianapolis IN to Birmingham, AL sounds like a Indy-Evansville-Nashville-Brim. route to me...
If so, I'm right across the Ohio River from Evansville. ( I'm on the good side )

Give me a shout !

Hey guys,

ONE E-mail.
Ten responses.
Guess I'll have to keep checking the forum.

My trip is not cast in concrete But close. The main area for deviation would be the Baltimore to Dayton leg. It might get cut out completely and a return from Boston area to Kalamazoo, by a different route.

I would like to meet with each and everyone of you. But I'm not sure that even the Young Mr Younger has done that. Those I have to pass by, remember the rumor is a family reunion in 2001. I'LL BE THERE! With or without a ticket.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll have to keep checking.

It's guys (and gals) whou keep me this way

The Young Mariner
