Anyone at the CF ever had a hip replaced? Lorna is scheduled for her surgery in the end of October. Her right hip is causing her considerable pain and has to be replaced. This malady is limiting her ability to walk any distance and the discomfort is obvious.

Fortunately, we've heard nothing but good experiences about hip replacements. Recovery time seems to differ in some cases, but everyone we've talked to advised to be religious about the therapy after the operation.

Linda and I have a friend who had a hip replaced. She was born with a congenital defect and finally had it replaced last year. It went very well for her. Her biggest headache was not being able to drive for awhile and getting in and out of the car. Doing the therapy post-surgery is the single biggest thing to a "relatively" quick and successful surgery.

A friend of ours had both her hips done at the same time ... twice (with 22 years in between) and she swears she'd do it again if she had to. Both times she was up and about a couple of days after surgery and immediately felt MUCH better.
