This afternoon I.O. and I were honored by a visit from Jakers and his family. They are here for a visit to Syracuse University tomorrow. After some much needed rain in the morning the skies cleared and the temperature dropped so the day turned very pleasant. We spent some time relaxing down by the river and then had supper outdoors.

(Sorry for the quality of the pictures. I guess I'll blame my son Bill, as he took them! He must have shook for the first one and then somehow managed to turn off the flash!)

Jakers (Stephen), Jakers Mom (Cheryl), Jakers Dad (Paul), Mombo and I.O.

I.O. becomes Ed once you meet him. Thought you'd met him at last year's fall regional? If not it was probably because he took time out for a nap in the car. Obviously lighthouses and wackos are not top priority for him. This partly accounts for his I.O. status!

Digger you have so many skills and are so knowledgable on many things but...your geography needs improvement!

Jared you are correct. (Should I admit that that shirt is a hand-me-down from my daughter and that I don't know a UB40 from my 140 Zoom? )

We're home now!!! We'd like to thank Sue, Bill and Ed for having us over and for dinner on Tuesday. It was a real nice evening. Better than having to sit in the hotel all night watching television. The visit to Syracuse University was nice. Stephen fell in love with it. It's about a 10 hour drive for us (one way). I told him if he gets accepted, I'm going to drop him off in August and pick him up in May, four years later. Stephen has two other college visits this summer. Valparaiso University which is less than an hour from us and Northwestern University which is about 1 1/2 hours away. He doesn't seem as excited about these visits anymore. I'm sure that will change when he gets there. Sue, thanks for having us over we really enjoyed ourselves.

No, Cheryl. He's going to be driving himself by then. You will be thinking between now and then just what kind of car you're going to buy him. smile

Sue, that's a good answer. I'd be saying that too if I were in that situation. smile

Glad you made it home safe and sound, well safe anyway! Pick him up 4 years later? Sounds like if the Kid goes to S.U. I'm going to gain another son! Could be a lot worse, could be another cat! wink

I agree with you on Genesee, Sue. shocked I was just trying to add a local reference. One of my roommates in college was from Rochester and bought it. One sip was enough. mad Only thing I've had worse was 'no frills beer'! eek

Watch out for the professors at Syracuse! One of them hit my parked car when she was visiting in Madison Wisconsin last summer. Well, she was pretty honest, she left a note admitting she hit my car, so I guess those professors have good ethics! Sounds like an OK place to go.
