I regret to inform you that our beloved dog, Chipper, who has appeared as my avatar since avatars became a reality at the CF, has passed away. Chipper was almost 12 years old and enjoy a very good life as a member of our family. He has been very sick since the beginning of the summer and finally got to the point that there was no quality of life left for him. I'm sure the animal lovers in the group will understand. We will miss him terribly. Bob

I am so very sorry to hear about Chipper. I've been through this a few times myself and its so very hard.
My thoughts are with you both.

Bob and Lorna, I am also sorry to hear of your loss too, Over the years we have lost a few pets too... It's never easy to say goodbye to a member of the family for such a long time.

Never easy, but better than trying to keep them around suffering for our "selfish" reasons. My condolences Bob.

Bob and Lorna - Sorry for your loss of your "best" friend. Amy and I have had 2 dogs in our 41 years of marriage and we treated them just like our kids. In fact our first dog that lived to be 16 got more goodies from Amy and the kids then I did. I guess they were watching my weight while in the Coast Guard. Our second dog was 15 years with us. We've been without a dog for almost 6 years now but plan on getting one during this year. Dogs are truly man's best friend. Keep the faith!

Bob,
Sorry for your loss. I've never had to do this but my brother-in-law has had this happen.
It can be very tough to lose a long time friend.

Aw, poor Chipper. I'm sure you and Lorna will miss him terribly. But I'm also sure he's in doggie heaven which is probably quite near kittie heaven, where my Boris went quite recently. Maybe there, they're all young and frisky again.

Bob/Lorna,
We had to let our "Bandit" (Shepherd/Golden retriever) go 3 years ago when his quality of life became nonexistent. He was Stan's buddy for 15 years and the "letting go" still hasn't complete happened even with "Bridget"'s (black lab/border collie) presence for 2 years now. Stan is still holding on to Bandit's ashes and we talk of him often.
Our vet sent a card with this message which I've had printed onto a brass frame that holds a picture of Bandit:
. . . .Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you. . . I loved you so-- 'twas Heaven here with you.

I am sad to hear about Chipper's passing.
We lost our cat, Hocus, to cancer about a year ago. I know it is hard right now, but you will always cherish the memories of your beloved friend.
