I've had someone contact me that was looking for a repair service for one of her HLs. I don't currently have any details as to the amount of damage involved.

Anyone that can recommend a reliable service please email me.

Thanks!

Sandy has used one before - kind of slow as I recall. Rich (flacoastie) also has been known to dabble in the occassional repair.

Melody - I do repairs to HLs as a hobby more then a money maker. I do charge for my supplies and some of my time though so I'm not completely free. Depending on the type of damage and the ammount of damage, I would charge accordingly. If your friend is interested have he(or she) contact me with a picture of the damage and I will honestly let them know if it is beyond my abilities and if I can repair, what the charges will be.

I spoke with the woman that has an HL that needs repair and it is not as I assumed (yes, I know what happens when someone assumes!) She has an HL646 the Minots Ledge "I Love You" and the light has burnt out. The light was a gift from her mother (now deceased) to her father and she wanted to know if someone knew how it could be "opened" and the light bulb replaced.

She has already contacted HL and they told her that "it was a design flaw" in not being able to open and replace the bulb and they could not recommend anyone to fix it. She said that she would even like to maybe buy a new one, but since it is retired she didn't think she could find one.

I made three suggestions:
1 - Re-contact HL and ask about "Retired at Retail"
2 - Watch on Ebay as sometimes this light is offered at auction.
3 - Post here on CF in the Trading Post to see if someone had one for sale.

Thanks to Sandy for emailing me regarding the company she used for repair. Thanks to Rich for offering to take a look to see if he could repair.
And thanks to Dave for suggesting she contact HL for some companies that HL might recommend.

My Minots Ledge HL 646 "I Love You" also has the same problem with the light. It does not turn on. I have mine on display inside a curio but rarely do activate the light unless I just want to see it for a short time. The last time I plugged it in and powered it on the light did not work.

Well curiosity got to me today so I powered it on and it worked. Now I am wondering if I ever turned the switch on the last time I tried. I thought I did.

Gee, I think many of us can relate to some variation of forgetting to turn the switch on . . .
