About 7 or 8 weeks ago, I received a call from my Harbour Lights Dealer in Oregon advising me that Harbour Lights inadvertently sent my Anchor Bay auto ship of the Coast Guard Eagle to another dealer and it was gone. My AB autoship is #15 and I really was sad that someone else now has it. My dealer then advised that HL would replace it with a rare Artist Proof to make it up to me. Now that sounded good to me. The dealer further advised there would be a delay but I should have the Eagle AP sometime in December.

I don't know if anyone else had the same thing happen to them but my Eagle arrived today. The number on the box and on the base of the piece is AP# 15. Has anyone ever seen this done before?

Now I take a look at the label on the box and it reads as such:

I always thought the Eagle was a Barque and considered a sailing vessel. Those of you who already have your "Eagle" would you check the label to see if it reads the same as I've typed above.

This piece has got to be considered rare with an edition number of AP# 15. Is it also rare because of the way the box is labeled too?

Inquiring minds on the East Coast where it's begining to look alot like Christmas every where I go (admit it, you did start to sing the song!), would like to know.

Except for the AP designation mine reads exactly the same way.

Mine is marked the same way. Personally, I believe the labeling indicates a lack of research on the part of someone in El Cajon. The Eagle is a barque, not a boat or a motor lifeboat. Mine is marked the same as yours.

It is very nice the way that HL made up for their goof with your number.

I've only known an AP to be numbered once before. The ones sent out to the showrooms only have the "AP" designation without a number.

I'm certain that they added the number to the flag "AP" to preserve your string of ABs with the 'same number'. A nice little touch IMHO. And a neat solution.

One rule of great quality service is when you make a mistake, fix it in such a way that when your customer talks about it to others (and they will) they talk about how WELL you fixed it.

Mine is also marked just as you described Bob.

Bob, I had a couple of #14's that got sent to the wrong store back a few year's back and they were replaced the same way as yours with AP #14 on the flag...

My #25 was shipped somewhere else also, and mine also says AP25. Box says the same has yours Bob. But honestly, I hope this only happens once. Ap's are nice, but to have a few shipped somewhere else other than your own house, well.....

The same thing happened to me. My autoship # 81 Nantucket Light Ship was shipped to a different dealer. When I was told it would be replaced with an A/P, it seemed to be a great solution. My replacement is numbered #AP81, while my "genuinue" AP's do not have any number on them, only marked with an "A/P'. While, as John said they are not Artist Proof's, as we know them.

Bob, back when I purchased my 3 1/2 order Fresnel, the box was labelled with my normal autoship number of 523. When I got home, I noticed the piece itself was labelled 526. I checked with my dealer to make sure the boxes didn't get switched, which they hadn't, at least at he shop. I contacted H.L. and their fix was to send me a new sticker for the light numbered AP523. Honestely, this didn't thrill me at the time, but since I was planning on keeping this one, it really didn't matter.

Hmmmm? I thought that maybe I was in possession of what might become a "rare" number, but apparently not. After reading the above replies, I agree with Ray, I hope it doesn't happen again. I think I would rather have my autoship #15 than a series of AP #15's. Afterall, autoship people want the exact same number each time because that's why we are on autoship.

I guess we can file this under "hidden secrets revealed".

Just want to let everybody know that the glass cases for the Relief and Eagle arrived today. They came in a wooden box nailed and screwed together with an abundant amount of form/rubber protecting the cases. They were fully intact--no breakage.

The quality of the glass cases is very good and we have no qualms about recommending them. The price is super great for what you receive. Our collectible store in town would have charged more for one then we paid for two.
