I received the Lighthouse Depot catalog today. It has a very interesting piece by CS Collin. Whitefish Bay Lighthouse with the Edmund Fitzgeral Ship. Come on Harbour Lights, lets keep up with the Jones'.

Hi Gary, ...Take a better look at that piece. The quality is not quite like an HL.

Make it six! While the idea of combining a lighthouse with a ship is a good idea, Whitefish Point with a sinking 'Fitz is very distastful.

CSC and Lighthouse Depot get my jeers for their collaboration on this piece. This is a bad idea and I would hope Younger & Associates would not follow in these footsteps to keep up with the 'Jonses.

And here I was hoping for Cape Hatteras on the Move through New York Harbor with SOL and the Sloop John B. Get it all outta their system in one big diorama.

I like the idea of HL and Anchor Bay together, but as with the others I would at least like to see the ship floating.

So many, so afraid, new ideas, made the same. Taste and class, those qualities to which all reach for and so few seem to obtain, in the eyes of others at least. I personally do not intend to purchase the CS Collin piece, but I am always glad to see new ideas. They tend to promote so many more new ideas. Keeps the posts coming.

I really should keep my big mouth shut, but I don't think it's good to show the Fitz sinking. However, despite this, I still kinda like it.

Don't hurt me!!!

I couldn't agree more with all of you who think that the CSC depiction of the Edmund Fitzgerald's final moments is in very poor taste. Shame on Lighthouse Depot & CSC for this attempt to capitalize on this tragedy.

While a combination piece by HL would be nice, I think a new Anchor Bay showing the Edmund Fitzgerald sailing along would be wonderful. Perhaps part of the money raised via the sales of the piece could be directed to the Fitzgerald memorial for it's upkeep.

The CSC version shows no respect for the crew or the families
of the Fitzgerald crew.

Gary, take a look at your White Shoals (Xmas 97) HL has already done it. An ice breaker with a beautiful lighthouse. Still my favorite HL. See Ya!

Gary, like you, I enjoy seeing new ideas and designs being marketed, however, IMHO, alot of'em are profit-driven with little consideration to the ramifications of its "content". I like the idea of HL doing an edition of the "Fitz" during one of her trips but not while she's sinking....no sense compounding one disaster with another. As far as being on the forefront of new ideas I personally believe that Harbour Lights has had its share of "firsts" throughtout the last 10 years including Anchor-Bay itself, the Fresnel lens, the Statue of Liberty, etc., etc., etc.

I would wecome a combination of the two without the "sinking" being a part of it.
Think that could make a nice issue !

Placing a well-known ship with a well-known lighthouse would make for an interesting piece. I like your idea, Punkin, about the ship not being depicted in a precarious position. My general feeling is the idea might not work.

Given the dimensions of the average ship and the dimensions of the average light, the focus would definitely end up on the ship and we all know that the popularity of the AB boats has only been high with a small portion of the lighthouse collectors.

I agree with most of the above responses. LEAVE THE FITZ ALONE!!! The lighthouse alone would be great, but NO likeness to the Fitz. I hate to see this being done weather for profit or even as a nonprofit for a memorial. I believe that Harbour Lights has too much class to do anything like this.
Just my thoughts. GerryBu
