Things have been a little quiet in the Anchor Bay thread, so I thought I would ask the members of the Collector Forum if they have Anchor Bay Boats in their collection. I was hoping to post a poll in this thread but I can't find the icon to do it. Therefore, I'll just ask three questions the old way: 1. Do you collect Anchor Bay Boats? 2. If so, how many do you have? 3. What are your favorite three Anchor Bay Boats? Bob

1. I collect the Anchor Bays selectively. I collect only real boats/ships. 2. I have all the lightships and all the Coast Guard Cutters and boats. 3. My favorite 3 are: a. Lightship Portsmouth from my tour of dutyin Portsmouth VA at the District Office(the Portsmouth was right outside the Federal Building.
b. 41' UTB from working on this small boat while stationed at Base Miami Beach FL.
c. 44' MLB from working on this small boat while stationed at Station Ponce De Leon Inlet at New Smyrna Beach FL.

1. Yes, but only the lightships 2. All Four 3. The Huron natuarally, I'm form MI
Also had a Skipjack for a short time, but sold it and kept the glass case -- thanks for teaching me that trick Rich.
Now the advertisement. Three of my lightships are #280. Does anyone know where LIGHTSHIP HURON #280 IS? I have a Huron S1096 and/or a Chesapeake Open if you would trade so I had a complete set. Roger

1. I really don't "collect" them.
2. I do have two lightships, the Chesapeake and the Huron, because they are/were floating lighthouses.
3. I guess my other "favorite" besides the above two would have to be one of the other lightships.

I have the Chesapeake, the Skip Jack, and the USCG Cutter Tybee. The Tybee is my favorite followed by the Nancy and the Chesapeake in no order. I plan on getting the other USCG AB's and the other Lightship's. I am not interested in the tug's or the sardine's.

I have one of each in my collection. Personally, the USCG Tybee and the lightships are my favorites.

1. No 2. None 3. Doesn't apply! If I started to collect these I think I would stick with the lightships. So far I haven't been tempted to buy one, but who knows. When I started to buy lighthouses it was only going to be one (BEAVERTAIL), because I fished off the rocks around Beavertail for years. Needless to say "If you get one then you get them . . . ." I don't have them all, but I do have a complete collection of New England LIghthouses in LE, GLOW and LLOM. I have others also. OH well who knows Bob, maybe a lightship in my future. Bert

No, none, I like the lightships but am focused on the lighthouses first. At the right price I might be persuaded to pick one or two up though.

I have several Anchor Bays in my collection. In the minority, I always liked the glass cases. I have 3 lightships, and my favorite is probably Chesapeake, primarily because it was first. I've always been disappointed that there haven't been more famous real ships in the line, such as the Fitz or Old Ironsides. The Coast Guard ships haven't caught my imagination, perhaps in part because while they may be actual boats, they aren't typically something that I could go visit and tour.

Hey John, ...Is there any reason while there is no "polling" feature in the Anchor Bay thread? Any chance of adding it in the near future? Bob

1. Yes 2. Four. All Coast Guard. 3. 1) 44' MLB as I had one at my station at Manasquan Inlet, NJ and two at my station here on Humboldt Bay, CA. 2) 41' Utility Boat as I had the first one made (41300) at Manasquan Inlet. 3. The HURON Lightship as I went along on a 40 foot utility boat to service the HURON on station the year before she retired. Rich

I only have the OE Chesapeake. I mostly just collect Maryland and Delaware lights, so the Chesapeake just fit right in.

I have two lightships, Huron and Chesapeake, both bought at 50% off. My favorite three are the two I have and the Coast Gaurd Cutter Mackinaw, when they finally come out with it!

1. I do not collect Anchor Bay, specifically.
2. I own Lightship Chesapeake, which I bought as soon as it came out. I have not bought any others because of the expense, but if I could, I would buy the other lightships.
3. My favorite are the lightships, and I do not favor any over any other

I got the Chesapeake, Huron, and Portsmouth lightships - as well as the sardine boat Lori for my birthday - they had been 1/2 off. I would like to find more 'bargains', as these have excellent detail. I guess I am a bit partial to the Lori.....
Anyone know of more bargains??

In answer to the questions,
1. I do not make it a point to collect Anchor Bay pieces, but if one really strikes me or it is a local piece, I will pick it up.
2. There are two pieces in my collection: The Lightship Huron and the LE 44'USCG MLB
3. My favorite is the Huron Lightship. As for three favorites, all of the rest of the lightships are equally good.

1. Yes 2. At least one variation of all but the latest rigid hull (but looking). 3. My favorites are: a. 101S-Chesapeake (toured in Baltimore) b. 110S-44' Motor Lifeboat (looks like replica in Maritime Museum in Astoria) c. 104S-Skipjack Nancy (just like the design) d. All the others because they are well done.
I started out with the intention of only collecting AB lightships as a nice supplement to my lighthouses. I purchased the "nonlightships" working boats when they came on the market at big discounts when they were discontinued. Then came the Coast Guard boats, and by then I was hooked on AB boats.

1) Not really..... Only have one and there will only ever be one in my collection unless HL does a replica of the Coast Guard "Eagle".
2) Only one.... The Chesapeake Skipjack, due to being a Chesapeake Bay fan.
3) None of them, except the Skipjack that I already own. Of course I would consider a "Eagle" if it was ever made.

Some changes...
1. Yes 2. I now have all four of the lightships, the Sardine boat, and the 'Kim'. 3. The first three lightships.
I have also considered adding the Toledo and the skipjack, both available for 1/2 price at a dealer.
