I have sent numerous emails to Anchor Bay and have gotten no response from them to date. I really like their rendition of the 175-foot Keeper Class buoy tender George Cobb WLM-564.

Marketing that buoy tender makes no sense when you look at the numbers as compared to a 180-foot seagoing buoy tender. There are 14 Keeper Class tenders in service now for around 10 years, each having a crew of around 18.

I have asked Anchor Bay to consider making a model of the 180-foot buoy tender. There were 39 original 180s, each with a crew of around 45 men. Most of the 39 served in the CG for fifty to sixty years. It would seem to me that with around 100,000 Coasties having served on a 180 would have a much better market than the 175 Keeper Class.

Anchor Bay could make one Class "C" 180 and then have a dry transfer sheet with the tender's name and hull number and they would encompass most Coasties who served on a 180.

Does anyone know how to go about contacting the marketing and design people at Anchor Bay with my idea for a 180 replica?

I would contact Tony Constantino at Harbour Lights in Maine. Tony is the one that you need to convince that a 180' WLB is the way to go for one of the next Anchor Bay releases. In fact, the 180' WLB is one of my suggestions for future lighthouses and ships that Tony asked the Forum Members to provide to him, about 2 weeks ago in the WISH LIST Forum un the "Hell hath no Fury--------" subject. I was the one that originally asked Tony to produce a older WHEC and hense, the Taney was made. Give Tony some ammo and reasons to produce a 180' WLB and you may be surpised at what happens. Your idea of interchangeable names and hull numbers is a good one but may be cost prohibitive. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I wouldn't wait to submit your idea and reasons as planning is now going on for production in the coming year or beyond. Tony's email address is tconstantino@harbourlights.com.

Thanks for the information Rich, I will try and contact him in the next couple of days. I'm thinking about suggesting they model either the CGC SUNDEW WLB-404 which is waterfront museum ship in Duluth or the CGC ACACIA WLB-406 which is a waterfront museum in Chicago. I work with the ACACIA folks quite often and it would afford the folks from Anchor Bay the opportunity to actually go aboard a 180.
