Are there still collectors out there who want matched number sets but haven't found one yet? Have you called dealers? Looked online? Just curious if the desire for these pieces has been filled yet or not.

Mackinaw action on eBay has certainly slowed. Is that an indicator? Maybe people can't part with them yet and are hoping to fetch a better price in the future. They are certainly a nice set of Anchor Bay boats.

I noticed that also. However there is a lonely whitehulled version listed.

I'm actually looking for a red hull one. I've already got a white hull Mac as a gift.

Take a good look at the picture of the white hull version. Are my eyes deceiving me or is something missing in the very bow of the boat?

 Bob

If you guys are looking at the picture of the white "Mac" on Ebay, I would have to say that the Bow Light/Bow light Mast is missing. I cannot see it through the plastic and that may be why he/she has the plastic still on the piece.

That may be why the bids have been so low so far. Other people may have noticed the missing piece. other wise I would have thought the bids would have been higher. I have been watching it to see what it ends up going for.

This seller seldom ever posts pictures. I was surprized when this listing came up to actually see not only one but the series of photos. For that reason, I just don't believe they were taken with the plastic on to hide something.

I think what you are seeing is poor photography and folds in the plastic.

This listing was also started at $9.99 I believe, which is also typical of this seller. It doesn't end until March 6th, and typically, the heavy bidding takes place near the end.

I've been buying from this seller for years. She's been a credit to eBay. I still can't quite understand how she can afford to sell at the prices her auctions end at.

I took a much closer look at the picture of the white hull. I stand corrected from my earlier post. It appears the forward mast is in place, I think.

The plastic makes it really hard to tell. But the bidding is starting to go up.

Pictures can be deceiving. It almost looks like the mast is bent forward a wee bit. Any WH Mac owners experienced any problems with their forward mast being bent?

Why don't one of you write her and ask her and stop speculating.

No need. Check the listing...additional photos have been added.

Let's go back to the original question - sort of.

Sounds like everyone who wants one here already has one.

So let's say you knew for sure where a 2 digit matched number set was available at list price. Would YOU buy an extra pair to put it away for future possible resale?

John,

No thank you. I already purchased two sets -- #37 which I gave for my brother and #111 which I kept for myself.

Good luck in your endeavor.

If I could find a 2-digit matched set at list price I would buy it and probably sell my 3-digit matched set. John do you know of such a set or was this all speculation?

No
I already got a very low three digit, just a few notches from a double digit. I don't buy extras. I just buy what I need and leave the extras for those don't have one.

No. I couldn't justify spending $200 on another set and letting it sit around in anticipation of the price going higher.

Yes I would buy a matching set for list price so I could have a matching set. I already have the Red Hull but could not get the White Hull. So if I could buy a set, I would have a set plus an extra Red Hull.

Well, being that I have a matched number set...I really don't need another set.
But at list price...that is a real deal that might have to be looked at. These are really nice boats and display real well together!
I might consider it and the fact that it is a double digit...which is lower than the set I have...yes and then maybe sell my higher number set in the future.
