I just opened my Abescon and the first thought I had was of the older style Cape Lookout, Currituck, etc. I like that!

I thought someone posted something about this piece being small/GLOW like. It doesn't look like a GLOW to me. The tower is taller than I thought it was going to be. The building is quite large and somewhat elaborate. The colors on the tower make it stand out as "different" from any other tower in my collection. I like it!

Once again those two zeros have resurfaced. The edition number on this one is #0087.

Ditch the zeros, Harbour Lights!

Bob,

It's the same height as the Barnegat Revised GLOW (7") and an inch shorter than the Cape May LE.(8").

It's bigger than most GLOWS, but smaller than many other tall tower lights, such as Boon Island.

I guess some of us just expected it to be taller as it is quite tall in real life.

I don't think it is a situation of an old style returning, I think this piece was probably sculpted a year or two ago, before this new era of oversized LE's. Interestingly, the label on the box from HL says "2001", not "2002". Also, while the tallest lighthouse tower in NJ, it is a bit smaller than the Cape May LE. Personally, I am very happy since I have reserved space in a particular curio for this last Atlantic Coast notable for several years. I feared when the Absecon piece was finally released, it would have been too big for the spot. Looks just great on the same shelve with my Barnegat green water, Cape May, Montauk and Fire Island LEs

There were some serious rumours last year that this one was coming out.

It didn't, but maybe there was some truth to the rumours and something held it up.

It could have had something to do with the rebuilding of the Keepers Quarters which were not complete until late in 2001.

I got my Absecon over the weekend. After carefully checking it over, I'll take back calling it a Glow! It could have been just a little taller, since it is a very tall lighthouse! All in all, it's a nice piece with great detail!
