Okay Sue... you talked me into purchasing a Sisters Island when it becomes available. Now, and more importantly, should I send it to you for signing? Also, is Alvin going to be highlighted somewhere on the grounds as well? Tim - Keeping the flame lit...

It looks like a winner, Sue. Will you be holding a signing in the near future? How does it feel to be famous? Bob

Sue, Please thank your new friends for allowing you to share the pics with us. They (pics) truly are a rare commodity with this light. I kinda like the porch & flowers HL added. In any case, a nnfine looking light.

Sue; Great pick!! Bill let it slip when he was in Arizona in December. Fortunately there were only two of us there at the time. He was discribing the challange he had finding it. I can't wait to see it in person. The pictures look great.
Good luck matching this one Jake!!

Well the folks who took the pictures had a hard time finding it too. They had to ask several places nearby before they found anyone who even knew it existed, let alone where to rent a boat. When they finally found a boat they were told, "It's out that way somewhere."
It does look nicer with the flowers. Which got me thinking. Some of the additional items which HL puts on their models are probably meant to dress up an otherwise plain looking light.
When I chose this light from the limited photos available I thought I was seeing the 3 islands, with the lighthouse sitting on the largest, middle island and didn't understand why HL couldn't have made the 3 islands. Now that I have seen the Seaway Trail video I was mistaken. The three islands are long and skinny with the lighthouse being on the rightmost island if you are facing the front of it. It would have been pointless to make all three.
In checking the photo once again that is in the Penrose's book, it does appear that the lighthouse is on the middle island.

Mombo,
I am very impressed at your selection. Do have a 'sharpie' ready.
Best wishes, Tim H

Did the real light have a porch on it at some point in time? If you look at the model and imagine the porch not there you realize the porch has a strong impact on its appeal.

Tim - I think HL is awaiting your 'story' of how the porch was 'swiped off' the building by an passing freighter. You did such a great job on the Bob Tree story, perhaps you can go into the business.

Have no idea about the porch, Tim but it certainly looks good with it. In the photo above you will see there isn't even a step now. Also on the HL model the back door is a window. Perhaps that was changed later also. Hopefully HL had better luck researching this light than what I was able to find. Even the Coast Guard Historian's site didn't have a picture of it.

Funded through an off-shore account - whose ownership can be attributed only to 'Svea & Willie' - a small group from the Sisterhood of Artistically Licensed Elves (SALES), snuck onto the island, built a porch overnight, gussied up the chimneys, and planted lotsa flowers. All within hours of BY arriving with his camera and all gone within a day. Any truth to the rumor that on the model, if you look carefully between the red boat and the house you can see rabbit pellets?

Wow, it's finally been spotted on the shelves by "Pharologst George"! Warning: Embedded into the stonework of this HL is a special substance which, when viewed by the human eye, sends a signal to the beholder's brain which translates to "Buy me, buy me"!

Sue, that's the same stuff that HL uses on all of it's models. They mix it into the paint. According to Bill Younger however, the substance is absorbed into the body through the fingertips. So when visiting your HL retailer, make sure that you don't touch any HLs that you don't want to buy!
HLs that you don't want to buy? Isn't that oxymoronic? See, the stuff works!

I stand corrected. In speaking with HL today, Sister(s) Island is not due to ship until mid October. George, what did you really see? Art, this is not the same substance. It is much more powerful. Looking is enough. And it can even penetrate the foam insert and the blue box. This was developed at the former Bell Labs in New Jersey and delivered to China via special courrier and is at this moment being injected into each piece.
