Thanks Paul -- And THANK YOU HARRY!

Beautiful job.

The inclusion of the coaster sets the scene so much associated with this lighthouse. Clearly it's 'closer' to the lighthouse than the real one -- but that's happened before on many HLs:

Alcatraz - tower & prison
Cape Canaveral - tower & rocket launch
Jeffrey's Hook - tower and the bridge section
Owl's Head (and MANY others) - tower and keepers house

Will a section of the coaster make this one sell better? I'd say yes -- especially among a potentially large group of "non-collectors"(and maybe potential collectors) - Coaster Lovers and those who live within a hundred miles or so of Cedar Point.

I hope there will be a dealer inside the park when it opens in the Spring.

It looks like the one person is holding their hands behind their head which is about the same as arms up riding!!

The detail on the coaster is fabulous, and a very complex structure - but makes you wonder, why couldn't we have a bridge on last year's Point Bonita LE release??

There is no truth to the rumor that the guy hiding his head in the front seat is Dave H!!

This looks like a fun piece to have in the collection.

In response to John's comment about a dealer in the park when Cedar Point opens in the spring, there isn't even a HL dealer in the city of Sandusky where the park is located. The closest one is in Marblehead which is across the bay from Cedar Point, about a 30 minute drive.

The Curmudgeon checks back in...! I've looked at several photos of the original, and—as I suspected—the roller coaster is quite some distance from the structure. Thanks to the excellent photos of the HL piece, I can see that the back view of the light is entirely spoiled by the inclusion of the roller coaster, and the price is jacked up by more than $20 accordingly. Similarly, for the Grand Haven piece, if we had to have rime, there were any number of other Great Lakes lights that could have been used.

Moreover, it is apparently the battery-lighted feature that adds dollars to Biloxi, inasmuch as there are enough other, more complicated yet cheaper pieces in the collection. I don't care to pay the extra price for "stuff" that has no use or meaning to me. I know that I am out-of-sync with most of the collectors, but my feeling is that Harbour Lights in inexorably drifting toward toys.

At any rate, I am thinking that—with Barking Rocks, etc.—Harbour Lights is taking a direction that I just can't follow. If I am to have gaps in the collection, I might as well discontinue.

If anyone might want to bring a panel truck to Wichita and buy large bleeding chunks of my collection at the original prices, give me a holler. No...I am simply too old to try to sell them off piecemeal...on the Internet...and package and mail them individually...only to have recipients "claim" that they are not in the pristine condition that I know I would send them. [This happened to me with some Maxfield Parrish prints, and my brother has encountered this sort of defrauding activity in his ebay dealings]. And...no...being of fixed income and not in a position to be charitable, I need to get out of them what I put into them, at the very least.

Harbour Lights has become something less than a joy for me. Deepest apologies to all.

Danny

Hi Danny, ...Everything can't be peaches and cream all the time. We didn't sign up and promise to wear "rose-colored" glasses in our dealings with our favorite collectible.

Although we can appear as HL Cheerleaders at times, I also feel true and honest opinions are a must to achieve a balance that may indicate changes need to be made.

I've enjoyed your posts and your way with words. Even if you stop purchasing new HL releases, I do hope you will remain a member of the CF and share your opinions whenever you feel the need.

That is what these forums are for. For those of us who love lighthouses and collect Harbour Lights, past or present to express thier opinions. If all of our tastes and opinions were the same all of the time, then there would not be much to discuss.

Cedar Point is how Harry choose to depict the actual light. The same way as how he did Jeffery's Hook, Alcatraz, Cape Canaveral, Owl Head, and many more. I think they give you a feel for what's around them. Part of the lighhtouse lure is it's surroundings.

IMO as a collector, I feel you should only buy what you like. I can see having a complete collection if your talking 20, 30, 40 pieces, but when it gets into the 100's, it's going to be tough liking everything released.

While I do disagree with Danny's opinion, I do enjoy reading it.

I picked up this one from my local HL dealer this past weekend.

The detail is excellent. I still have it on my desk, enjoying the detail of both the lighthouse and roller coaster. cool
