My Lighthouse Digest (May 2000) arrived today and I am very impressed with the Rockland Breakwater (HL248) piece featured on the back cover. For every purchase, $5 will go toward the preservation of the lighthouse. Has anyone seen this piece? I would love to hear your thoughts when you do, I'm sure this one will be a big hit.

I haven't seen this piece (or even a picture) yet Herb. How much of the breakwater is there on this piece. I'm glad that $5 will be going toward the restoration and preservation of the lighthouse and I'm looking forward to when it is available. Thanks for the heads up Herb.

Rockland Breakwater? I haven't seen that one yet. But, I'm always glad to see more New England Lights being offered.

I haven't seen the HL piece yet, but I did hear somewhere that it is coming.

Here's the official website of the real thing to tide you over:

Sounds like an other Restoration Series.
Maybe there will be a Harbour Light event there like the one held at Sapelo Island.

Does anyone who gets Lighthouse digest have a scanner, and could scan the picture and show it off to the rest of us ?

Thanks in advance, Mark

I do have a scanner but I am not sure how to put the scan into this text. If someone can walk me thru it I would be glad to post it. Ron, it does not show much (any) of the breakwater.

Great Day in the mornign when we get another New England lighthouse. I love them all but I'm very partial to New England! I wonder why! Looking forward to seeing the picture if it ever gets posted or I receive my magazine. Either way, I always appreciate the New Harbour Lights. Glad to hear they may be holding down the edition size also. Make sense, they will move them quicker and they won't be left on the shelves for months on end.

How did Lighthouse Digest get this one before we heard about it? And how do you get the May issue when I just got April? I must be on their slow list!

Mark, I just sent you an e-mail with the back cover of the May issue scanned in. Hopefully you can post it here. Mombo, I'm sure your May issue will arrive soon

Mark, thanks for posting the picture. I called my local dealer today to place an order and they had not even heard that Rockland was available yet. They wanted to know when and where I heard about it (I think they thought Bill had "spilled the beans" at some local event). They have placed a call to their Rep to get the scoop. I then called Lighthouse Depot (there is an article in this issue about the fundraising effort and the $5 donnation from Harbour Lights) and you can place an order, but they could not tell me when it was expected to arrive. Perhaps they were premature with the ad?

Thanks Herb and Mark for the photo. Actually there is no breakwater so it looks a bit chopped off to me. And the railing around the place is missing too. Hopefully it will be on the finished product.

I am estatic that Harbour Lights has made Rockland Breakwater! The pictures are great! I went on a cruise out of Camden last summer and we went in real close to the lighthouse. Got some great Pictures!
Does anyone know when it will be available?

I would guess that Lighthouse Depot got it first because of Lighthouse Digest and their promotion of the Rockland Breakwater light thru the American Lighthouse Foundation. The foundation would appear to be very closely tied to the magazine, for all practical purposes. (Not a bad thing, just stating what appears to be the case.)

I called customer service yesterday and they told me that Rockland Breakwater should be shipping late June or July. I ordered mine from my dealer and they weren't aware of it either. Somehow or other it appears that Lighthouse Digest got the scoop on this one and surprised everyone. I LOVE SURPRISES!!! expecially when they're from New England.
