Mike, THANKS for posting this. I also received my Lighthouse Digest today, but never turned it over. Just did and I like what I see. The Avery Point and the Portland Head look great. As much as I love to see HL make light from the New England area, (My main area of collection), I hope that Portland Head doesn't begin to compete with St. Augustine for the lead as to how many different pieces can be produced. Bert I think that Cape Hatteras has got that Title already and Avery Point, what a dud, I hope it's just another one of LH Depots who cares editions. imho, Sean

Sean, I believe you are absolutley correct. Somehow I missed the fact that Cape Hatteras has been done over and over again. Mike, both of the threads you posted for Portland Head and Avery show them as open editions. The add on the back page of 'Lighthouse Digest" says they are 3,000 and 2,500 edition pieces. My guess is that they are definitely both LE's Bert

Another re-introduction that I won't be buying. If Harbour Lights keeps this re-introduction trend up they will loose more then me as a collector. The question is are they on their way out and don't want to invest money in new molds. I cannot understand their logic behind these re-introductions.

Rich I cannot understand their logic behind these re-introductions. The logic is very simple. This piece will sell out while other new editions will not.

Mikes answer nails it on the head. This is a very popular light, and as far as new molds you lost me here, they had to produce a new mold to produce this piece. Sean

You just watch and see if they don't start the season switch with this mold. You'll have Portland Heads coming at you right and left. I believe that earning money for a company by introducing new products is fine but this re-introduction thing is starting to become a common occurance. What ever happened to the "I'll never introduce a new limited edition of a previously introduced limited edition". This is what Bill Younger said to me when I asked about limited editions versus GLOWs in 1996. So much for that statement. Enough on this subject, I've had my say.
