Here's a list of all the new ones!!!

Abescon, N.J. - yellow and black tower!
Clarks Point, Mass.
Turkey Point, Md. - tower opens to see steps!
Tucker's Island, N.J.
Bullock Point,R.I.
Boon Island, Me. - with three out buildings!
Wolf Trap, Va.
Cape Romain, S.C.
Battery Point, Ca.

Christmas:
Crossover Island, N.Y.

Ornaments:
St. Augustine
Marshall Point
Tybee Island
Michigan City

Open Edition:
Drum Point, Md.
Bald Head, N.C.
Cape Lookout, N.C.
Minot's Ledge, Mass.

I was at a Nancy Event in Cincinnati last night and the new brochures were out with all the new lights! I hope I was able to list them all, for there are soooo many! They look super, so it's time for the credit card to take a real beating! The Minot's Ledge is an open edition and it's a real beauty! Having a tower that opens on Turkey Point is also something new! Cape Romain has been on my Wish List for years - not any more! Great pieces to add to an already great collection! GREAT WORK HARBOUR LIGHTS!!!!

Thanks for the scoop Randy. I'm with you on Cape Romain...and I'm very pleased to see Absecon listed too.

I've been asking for Absecon and Cape Romain for awhile now. Glad HL has finally granted two of my 'wishes'.

I saw the same brochure Randy did at my dealer yesterday. Cape Romain has both the old and new tower. It looks just like Cape Henry, but on a slightly smaller scale(I think).

Once again the west coast is left under represented with only one new release. Very dissapointing. I don't see much there that interests me. I agree Cape Romain is long over due and should be a sell out. And Turkey Point opening up to see the steps should be interesting. The orniments look like a good bunch, but thats about it for me.

To be honest Dale, I think there are a lot more lighthouses on the east coast...a whole lot more...even if you include Alaska and Hawaii as west coast states. So 1 in 9 may be a reasonably accurate distribution.

You can see all of the new releases already on www.lighthousedepot.com Just click on new products, then select products added in the last 10 days. There are all there and very unique.

PS I agree with Dale about California lights. I have passed comments to Bill Younger over the years and he seems very unimpressed with them. Was disappointed Battery Point was chosen (too many Cape Cod style California pieces) but the piece has a wonderful setting.

Take a look at the new releases!

I was looking at the Lighthouse Depot Catalog at Minot's Ledge and by the HL number of 646 it does not fall in to the Open Edition numbering status. Open Editions(GLOWS) all are numbered in the 400 series. Maybe it's a Special Limited Edition. Lighthouse Depot didn't refer to it as either a LE or OE. Maybe John knows and isn't telling. Hey John, I thought you were supposed to let us in on all the scoop this weekend or did I read your post wrong on May 30th when you said that you wouyld give out all the info in a week.

WOW!

Been wishing for Bullocks Point for years. I mentioned that it would be a BIG challenge and I believe Harbour Lights has met the challenge very well. Thanks Harbour Lights for a very impresive list of lights for all hands. Boon Island, Clarks Point, Minot's Ledge and so on. The old charge card is going to take another beating!

Minot's is a Special Edition honoring the lightkeepers who lost their lives when a Hurricane took out the original tower.

My apologies to all for not having this information up on June 5 - It will be up with photos sometime on Monday.

No apologies necessary John! There is always going to be someone who finds out information before someone else. If not from a rep, it will be a store or from Bill himself! It's always great to hear rumors and see if the information comes true in the future!

Thanks for the link ctlights. The turkey point piece appears to have been done very well. Harbour Lights did a good job on that one.

Doc
I don't think the number of lights on the west coast determines if or when they will be made by Harbour Lights. If the west coast lights were as popular as Florida and the outer banks you can bet there would be more of them made. I guess you can't realy blame Harbour Lights for making the ones they feel will sell. after all it is a business. I'm just disappointed that some of the good ones still haven't been done as LE's like East Brothers Island, Point Vicente, San Louis Obispo, Point Reyes, Point Bonita. LLOM's just don't cut it.

John, No need to appologize. You can't move and handle all the business on the Forums at the same time. But next time before you move put out the list first. Only kidding.

It's probably just a misprint somewhere, but it looks like both the new Minot's Ledge and the Craighill Lower Channel Thumbnail share the same part number.

And in case your wondering, I had a few quiet moments away from my kids and decided to update my HL spreadsheet.

Thumbs down to Minot's Ledge. Those waves are tacky and wholly unrealistic. I was hoping they would mirror the work done on La Jument. The way it is now looks like some piece of tacky faux crystal giftware. It's going to stick out like a sore thumb on shelves. Why didn't they go the whole K-Mart mile and stick a little clock at the base? Dammit.

Randy and Bob,

Thanks for posting the list of all the new models coming out in the second half of 02.

I couldn't agree more. It has been a banner year for lights. I finally got my wish for Bullocks. Never thought I'd see the day.

I wonder if there will be anything else to add at Rosemont? Kinda bursts the bubble of the big summer show.

And Bill, there has been a few pieces in the past that didn't jump out at me from the pictures but once I saw them in person I had to have them, hopefully the real Minots will draw you in.

I think I have to agree with Bill on the Old Minot's Ledge light. I haven't seen it up close, but I'm not real impressed with the picture. I don't really go for the Turkey Pt. hinged tower effect either. Sorry, maybe I'll change my mind when I see it. I think the others all look great though. I can't wait till they come out. It could be awhile though. Still waiting on Ft. Tompkins.

After looking at Old Minots Ledge a couple times it kind of grows on you. I would realy like to see an actual piece. I am sure the picture just can't capture the real thing very well. It will be interesting to see if Harbour Lights uses this technology on future LE's. I also want to get a good look at the stairs in Turkey Point. It is amazing how far they have come with the quality and detail. Pictures just can't do justice to the real thing.

Old Minots Ledge.

At least it has green water.
Maybe after a 1,000 are produced it will get switched to blue.

One nice thing about going to Rosemont is being able to see the 2nd half releases, especially for someone who doesn't buy them all. Very often my opinion of a light changes from just seeing a picture to seeing the real thing.

First impressions on this group:

4th order lens, looks great but hope it doesn't flash. (Now if HL could do a 1-4-3 couldn't they have slowed down the 3 1/2?)

Absecon, tower colors are neat but don't they clash with the keeper's house?

Bullocks, very nice, great detail.

Cape Romain, looks good but I was hoping the next twin towered piece would have been Thachers Island.

Crossover Island, the tower's too tall and not quite shaped correctly. Probably got taller when HL moved it closer to the keeper's than it is in real life. But seeing it's the Xmas piece, a NY light and Sisters Island's neighbor I'll get it!

Clark Point, little known light recently restored, like this one lots. I like rooting for the underdog.

Old Minots, well special or not, it's still an open. Will definitely have to see this one first.

Tucker's, sorry this one does absolutely nothing for me.

Turkey Point, looks good closed....

Wolf Trap, well I like red as much as the next guy but not quite all red. But that's just how this light is.

Boon Island, it appears that the buildings are too squished in to the tower here with no space left over.

Battery Point, California light but a Cape Cod style - doesn't this make it sort of an eastern light too? The trees on this one are really super.

I'm sure when I see them I'll like them all, just some much better than others.

Is the Boon Island LH really going to be 9 1/2 inches high? If so, WOW!

At 9 1/2 inches I will have to very picky as to where I place it. Just checked my shelves and they're 9 1/2 inches apart. They're adjustable though and I'll get one ready as my want list has gone from 2 to 8 and then some! OH well!

Couldn't resist putting this up again!

The size for the Minot's Ledge Special Edition is listed as 7" tall and the longest dimension of the base is also 7".

My guess is the waves are 'clear resin' not acrylic.

Where, oh where, is the Indian River, DE Life Saving Station? The story was, it was coming this year. Are there more introductions to come? Are USLSSs now going to be "Historic Buildings", a whole seperate line? Are they holding it until next year? Where, oh where, could it be?

WOW ! That about sums it up! Boy a whole alot of activity in the past week. Some great new pieces coming out and some not so great. But on the whole, a warm welcome to all the new pieces. Soon, the next wave of LLOM will be coming out. Hard to keep up with this hobby!!

My favorite is Boon Island by far with Bullocks Point coming in second.

And yes, Larry's right....that's what I heard also. Where is the Indian River LSS, DE piece?

Go figure, well, I hope it gets introduced in the Spring 2003 line. At least, us Chesapeake Bay fans got the Turkey Point and Wolf Trap pieces. I quess the rumor about Cove Point may also be a later release piece in 2003. Only time will tell.

I think my credit card just "melted" again...

I like the Boon model... the old Minot's Ledge must look better in the flesh. The picture reminds me of an old sci fi flick, actually Steve McQueen's debut - "The Blob". Maybe it is the color of the waves...

Time to get out the CC's in our cats' names... lots of new goodies!

Daniel,

That was a necessary addition to the screwpile lights and to many built on caisons and such (lights such as sparkplugs). Look at your Baltimore piece, or the HL screwpiles and you will find a similar add-on. Just want to be careful when there were high seas!

Yes, it definitely was! As mentioned in the previous post. It was a necessity! HL really did well in capturing the detail on this one.

I see from The HL site that Boon Island is 8" tall and 9" at the base, still very impressive. I like me some tall towers!

After seeing all the new lights upclose and personal over the weekend, I was impressed with all except one. That one is Abescon. It looks like it should be a glow from the size of it. This is a very tall light, but you wouldn't know it from seeing the figurine! Sometimes I wonder why some of the pieces are done this way! Oh well, you can't win 'em all! The rest all exceptional (limited editions anyway!) in my book! Cape Romain and Clarks Point are both in my TOP TEN!!!

Randy,

I'm a little disapointed to read that about Absecon.

I did some quick checking. It is the same height as the Barnegat Revised Glow (7"), but it is 1" shorter than the Cape May LE & Barnegat LE (8").

I thought at first it was made to be the same size as those, as they are all about the same height and are basically the same design.

I was hoping to display them together. I still will, but it won't look as goiod as it could have.

UPS delivered two large boxes to my home late yesterday. I didn't get a chance to open them due to a lot of gardening and lawn work. I figure there must be five or six new HL's in the boxes. Hopefully, I'll get a spare moment to take a peek at them before I head out on my next boating adventure later tomorrow.

OK, BOb,

Enough is enough. Don't build us up and then let us down that you didn't open the box. IT would have been the first thing I did, then I'd report on the forum. Oh well! To each their own!

By the way I hope you had a great trip to BLock Island.

Dennis,

I believe many people will be disappointed with the size of Absecon! After getting Boon Island two weeks ago and seeing that tall tower, I expected/hoped Absecon would be at least that tall. It isn't and all I can compare it to is some of the GLOWS!

Bob,

How can you get new lights and not open the boxes?!?! It would be Christmas in July to me!!

After seeing all the pieces at Rosemont, I have to agree with you Randy about Absecon. I was expecting something along the lines of Boon Island or at least Cape May in terms or size.

The one piece that surprised me was Clark's Point. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the pictures, but the detail on this one is absolutely amazing. Seeing this one in person definitely made the difference for me. I will definitely buy this one.

Well I've opened the large boxes and found six new HL's. I haven't opened those boxes yet because it's just too darn hot and I didn't want to get any sweat on them. I'm heading back to Block Island tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting). Maybe I'll take a peek in the morning.

Bob,

Aren't you a tease! I bet you're one of those people that on Christmas morning, very slowly & carefully clip the tape on the presents and don't just rip into the paper!lol

Actually, Mel, I enjoy watching my family open their presents first. I guess I'm more of a giver than a receiver.

As far as the HL's go, everytime a new one comes in, I have to figure where I'm going to put an old one. My usual game plan is to remove an old one from one of my curios, put it back in its box, put it in my cellar storage area, then put the latest addition in one of the curios.

Now that six new HL's came in at once, I have to decide what four HL's will be removed. Two of the new HL's are seasonal Fort Tompkins and will go into storage. Now I must decide which four leave the display. Then I have to hunt down the boxes for the four. Then such a change in the curio means all the HL's come out so that the curio can be cleaned and prepared for an alteration in the display. Did I tell you it's hot in Massachusetts right now, and Lorna and I will be heading for the boat, then Block Island?

I will take a quick peek at the new ones this morning to make sure they survived shipping. Then I will put them back in their respective boxes for now and wait for a cooler time when I have some spare time to put them on display.

If this is the only dilema I have, I think I'm doing okay (lol).

Bob

Unfortunately I don't have the problem of what to display, as I don't have too many yet that I have to rotate. I'm thinking that will be a happy day though.

I bought my Absecon from the same dealer I got my Boone Is. from. They were having a 25% off sale that day - she said it didn't apply to H-L or Dept. 56 (Yeah, I looked at their new lighthouse!). When I got home - and compared my latest two goodies - I thought she was mistaken - that NJ light sure looks about 25% too small!

I also bought the Turkey Pt. - boy did it make up for the loss of thrill with that NJ lighthouse!

Sadly, I will be unable to use my cc anymore, it's balance has climbed nearly as fast as my miniscule (now) mutual funds (IRA) have fallen! I may have to get out the old "Will work for H-L" sign and head for the freeway exit...

John
