Evening all

For those of you who haven't seen them yet, I just added pictures of the new NY City Skyline and the new Regional Event Lighthouse Fort Tomkins (Spring Edition) to my website. Enjoy

"Very interesting"... Did I miss the official announcement by Harbour Lights or wasn't there one?

Bob,

I think what you have here is the same as always seems to happen. HL wants to insure its dealers are the first in the loop, to keep their loyalty and continued business. They get their Legacy by first class mail because of this.

The picture is a scan from the Legacy, I would bet. What you have is a dealer that does not respect HL's timing, of trying to let dealers know first before releasing the information to the general populace. They are so eager to let the world know that they are on top of things that they pre-empted HL's own sequence of events for releasing a new piece. This is a calculated chance on the part of HL, because they continue to let reps and dealers get the first info, even though they have been pre-empted on several occassions. Got to respect HL for being so loyal to its dealer network. (all of this IMNSHO)

Here in the forums and at HL dot com we have become so used to being ahead of the power curve on what HL is doing (and going to do in the future) that we come to always expect this to happen. FWIW,

Dave

Hmmm.... maybe another side to that coin.
Who are HL's customers? Who are the dealers customers?

If HL wants to control the release of information they can require dealers to sign an NDA. I agree that respect for their dealers is a wise approach on the part of HL.

If the info is published in the Legacy, should the first to receive it wait until the last do before discussing? Terry is often first w/ news (thank you Terry) - haven't heard anything about HL sqawking - and we certainly don't.

No sqawk, no fowl. :-)

I for one am thankful to Terry for letting the infomation out. I get tired of waiting for the Post Office Mule Train to get to Florida with my Legacy and having everyone else talking about something that I have no information on.

I have always found Terry to be trustworthy, above board and not playing a game. I don't buy from him, only because of location and loyalty to the dealer that I've had since 1994. But, if I were to ever consider changing it would be to the Bronze Lady. Thanks again Terry for letting the uninformed know what's coming.

>>What you have is a dealer that does not respect HL's timing, of trying to let dealers know first before releasing the information to the general populace<<

Good Evening

Obviously I couldn't disagree with this statement more. HL has not asked me NOT to release this info when I get it. There are times when they do want to keep something secret til X date and of course I always respect that. I've made a concerted effort to convince HL to always get the info to the dealers first so we can ALWAYS release it first. The last couple releases this didn't happen. This time it did. Thank you HL!

I know of course that every person on the board has an opinion. Some don't like dealers - which I'll never understand. Some just don't like me - which as a retired Army 1SG I do understand. But personalities are what make reading this and every other board I frequent so interesting.

So I will continue to disseminate information as I get it. I will continue to ask HL to provide it to us dealers first - If HL ever asks me not to distribute until a certain date, I obviously will comply. I didn't get those 10 Fresnel Lens' from HL that I offered to you folks a couple weeks ago by bumpin heads with HL.

I happen to love Lighthouses. My office in my home is filled with them along with photo's that my customers take and have framed for me while they're on trips. I don't get the opportunity to travel as I'd like and my customers know that.

Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed the pictures and more of you continue to do so. I look forward to hearing from many of you over this Holiday Season.

Happy Holidays to one and all.

You go, Terry! Collectibles dealers aren;t having the easiest time at the moment, so you need all the marketing firepower you can get.

(Although I'd rather see the upcoming releases show up on the official web site first...)

I have purchased from Terry a few times over the past few years. I have also traded pieces that he needed for pieces that I needed. It has been a pleasure dealing with him and I hope to do business with him in the future. I also have a few local dealers that I have know for years. They get the bulk of my business. I like the local connection, so I will mostly deal with them when possible. When I need something that they can't get me, I call Terry! Keep up the good work Terry! Glad to see you keep us current! Someone has to be the first to tell us what's new!

As being the first person that responded to Terry's post, I would like to say thank you!

I understand everyone's point already mentioned and can relate to many. I too either get the Legacy months late or sometimes never get it all (as in the case with the last 2 Legacys in which I had to call HL's about). So know I am praying that my membership account is taken care of and that I will get the latest one (Vol.8 No.4)

If HLs didn't ask for the dealers to keep quiet about them before the Legecy was printed and distributed, then I believe Terry and all the other dealers have the right to pre-advertise the piece. It only helps us collectors that are sometimes left out of the loop.

But now that the "cat is out of the bag" so to speak, what about pics for the other 3 seasons? I'm hyped now. I really like this piece. That's my 2 cents.

Happy Thanksgiving.....

Christopher

I have dealt with many HL dealers since beginning my collection and I for one think Terry at the Bronze Lady is the BEST! He is very interested in his collectors and takes care of them while respecting HL in the process.
Terry....anytime you want to post info we are all ready to see and hear the news. Thanks for everything.

Terry,

Keep on giving us the info. I usually get my Legacy late and generally don't have a clue about some of the topics being discussed. Its great to get the scoop from those who know, especially when there are pictures. That's why I get on the chats when I can as well.

Dave,
Keep posting your opinions as well. That's what makes these forums so interesting, not everyone has the same opinion. Its always good to hear another perspective.

Keep up the flow of info Terry! I don't see any ships(or lighthouses) sinking from loose lips here! As stated earlier, our Legacy's do seem to take for ever. That is excepts Derith's!
