HL294 Alki Point, WA #14, HL299 Point Reyes, CA #14 and HL665 Boston Light Fresnel #14 all are now at the Midwest Harbour Lights Museum.. I got the call today at work that they were in at my dealers store, they are now resting..... from their long trip from El Cajon and even longer one from China, in their places of honor!

I also picked up my three new ones today. They look great. Did your fresnel lens come with a cord to plug into the outlet? Mine didn't and my dealer said it is an extra cost item which has to be ordered from HL.

I imagine those three will probably be delivered next week at my place. Oregon to Massachusetts is quite a hike.

P. S.

Is Oak Island still delayed until next year?

Battery powered; an optional AC adapter is available for $5.
I believe it is a pretty standard AC adapter, I will check with HL and post the specs...

Yes, Judy, Oak Island won't be released until next year... I will check and see if there is a new timetable for it.

Picked up all three yesterday. Really like the detail on each, however, have you will have to be especially careful on the Alki Point as it has some very delicate detail on it. All three will be nice additions to the collection. Have not had a chance to put batteries in the Fresnel yet, but am interested in the possibility of an AC adaptor.

Picked up the fresnel today. Quite a nice piece.

They had two in the store. One was a darker green and the other was a lighter green. I went for the darker one (#466). So we already have a noticeable variance in the color.

Also be careful handling this piece as I noticed on the the light green one that one of the little pieces that separate the prisms had fallen off.It was easily put back on.

OK, here are the answers to the questions about AC adapters and Oak Island OE release...

The lens AC adaptor is a 3 volt generic adaptor that you can purchase at your local store. The other AC adaptor that HL has available, is for the Glow and this year's Christmas piece and it is a 4.5 volt generic adaptor and again it can be purchased at a local store as well.

At the current time, the Oak Island OE is expected to be released in January 2004.

The big brown truck delivered my Fresnel Lens while I was out today. I'm sure the driver was disappointed...because he always wants to know what lighthouse I've received now!

It's a beauty, #130...and I haven't even turned it on yet...gotta find some batteries! It's a very dark green, but then I don't have another one to compare it too. Compared to the lenses that came before it...it's much, much darker.

I still haven't received HL294, HL299, or HL665? Haven't checked with my dealer yet. Just curious if there is anyone else out there with autoships who hasn't received these yet?

I finally picked up my lens today. It is a very dark green but when lit it doesn't look quite so dark. I was kind of surprised that there's no brass on this one. It this how the real lens looks? Is the real lens so dark? The base doesn't match the others either as it's kind of reddish. The adapter is a great idea but this lens still flashes too fast. The real light flashes every 10 seconds. If we can get a slower flash on Stratford Point why can't we get a more realistic flash on a lens? I tried exchanging the flashing bulb with one of the non flashing bulbs from another lens but it quit on me. I know I did that successfully between the "battery only" lenses. So now I am short a bulb for the 4th order lens. I was thinking I could rotate the 2nd, 3rd and 4th order lenses on the adapter powered base. Isn't the 3 volt adapter equivalent to the batteries? Why should it blow my bulb???

Thanks for bringing this up again Sue. I agree with you that this lens flashes much too quick for what it's supposed to represent. I'm getting 12-13 flashes in ten seconds. Is anyone else having these quick flashes or is it just ours. As Bob would say, "Inquiring minds on the East Coast woluld like to know".

I heard Bill explain it wasn't brass because the real one at Boston Light looks like that (not polished brass.)

Actually, the flashing may be 'to scale'. You know since it's smaller, it flashes more frequently.

That's my unofficial opinion from the Arizona coast where our beacons are virtual.

Thanks for the photos Jim. I did look at that first one plus a couple others taken from inside the lens. I figured it must not have the shiny brass on it or HL wouldn't have made it the way they did. But it sure doesn't seem to be as dark a green. I should have asked to see another one in the store to see if they were different shades.

Don't go for that answer John, sorry....

Kim also said, when questioned during the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge, that the model looks just like the real thing.

Thanks for those links, Bob. Just noticed that Bill's Lighthouse Getaway site is celebrating 10 years on the Internet.

That's some accomplishment! A real pioneer.
