I think that the Bill
doll needs a nick name. What about a contest for the most creative new name for the doll. First prize gets a free Bill Doll. Second prize gets two Bill Dolls.

"Light" Baby by BY
sounds like
(Beanie Baby by TY)

of course they will be numbered and given an original Birth Certificate!
And there could be a Society Special Renovation Doll, L.E., autographed.
Or This Little Light Baby of Mine Doll - a miniature version.

Excuse me - I'm getting carried away - it's late...

I figured that if BY liked the winning entry enough, that he may buy.

Hey, we could say he comes from the south, and also put in the name of his long since deceased brother, "Bob", and call it "BillyBob"!

Or we can say it's a beanbag from the South and call it "BillyBag".

I found a job for the Bill Doll. I have one Bill Doll setting inside by display cases guarding the lighthouse.

I'm not crazy about the "Bill doll". I think HL should stick to making lighthouses. We all know what a fine job they do on those.

How about Billy/Bob the Bean Bag Beacon Buddy

I have to agree with Bob. Not that HL did a bad job on the doll, but I can barely keep up with the LE's. I would rather keep trying to complete a set of them instead of spending money on other things like the doll.

Have to agree with Bob and Dale. Not enough money to go around after trying to get lighthouses. But if I had enough money, I wouldn't buy the doll. I am glad they don't make the lighthouses like they did the doll. Yuck! I am sure that there will not be a "BillyBob" craze at the stores like the "Beanie Babies" experienced. Could you imagine a curio cabinet full of those "no hands" Bill dolls? Or worse yet, what if HL made the Bill dolls in a LE edition with a low edition... What would happen on the secondary market???? Once they sold out,(if they could) then HL would make a smaller version, then we would have another forum war about the new "Blow" (Bill Lovers of the World) version compared to the LE version. Heaven forbid. Then there would be the "then" and "now" version? What would that look like? Spyglass version? Thumbnail version? Ornament? Oh the thought of it all! Oh, I almost forgot the T.L.B.O.M. (This Little Bill of Mine) version...

Ya just gotta love the WACKOs here. We comment on just about anything in any way possible.

I admit I have not seen the Bill Doll myself, but I have placed an order for one. I think that it will be something neat to add to my collection. And the price is not out of reach, I just skip taking myself out to lunch for 2 days and pack something from home.

I think that a company that will do something like this and the Bob Tree is having a lot of fun with collectors and itself. Harbour Lights is a company that is not afraid of laughing at itself and giving us something to laugh about also. Companies that stick to the straight and narrow sometimes do not grow and then people loose interest. Just think of all the different things we ask for and then receive from this great company.

Those of us who collect lighthouses in all shapes and sizes because we like them, look forward to finding that different and odd item to add. Those who collect lighthouses for investment purposes may feel free to skip the Bill Doll and the Bob Tree. I will still be happy to call you friends.

Right On Jim....Thanks for putting into words what I was thinking. I got a call from my HL dealer that the "Bill Dolls" were in, went by to see them, and 2 Bill's followed me home. . Guess they just had to see for themselves my collection. I have one sitting on a shelf next to Thomas Point and the other is keeping me company next to my PC. Guess my new title fits "WACKO".
