Was up on the Mendocino coast this past weekend, spent a gorgeous day at the Pt. Cabrillo lighthouse and grounds...found LL 290 in the gift shop, noticed it was a limited edition, ___/300. Cute piece...is it new this year?

Nice find!!!

Well, I guess this CA piece shoots the missing 2 pieces (AL and LA) from The Grand Tour" out of the water. Either the CA is an early release or the missing 2 is a bunch of bologna.

I still think the new Mark Sherman's print of the Mobile Point, Alabama depicting the lighthouse in a Civil War scene is the "missing" AL piece from the "Grand Tour".

Looking forward to seeing a picture of this new LL290 California piece.

Wouldn't be anything about a special edition, numbered LL. The group would have purchased the entire lot of the first 300. As is normally done, the general release version would not hit the market for at least 6 months or so - I would not expect it to be available (other than the numbered version) until mid to late spring 2009. Looked at their website and there is no mention of the LL - I would consider this a mistake on their part as they would sell several if the piece were listed.

Point Cabrillo is a beautiful, small light with a wonderful Fresnel at a level where you can really appreciate it from ground level. Rock, were you there for their special activities last weekend?

I looked at the website and saw that the LL is not mentioned, but I did get a phone number and plan on calling to inquire about purchasing one.

Yes, I was there for the special Cabrillo Day, Dave, and the weather couldn't have been better...the gift shop phone number is easily obtained from their website...purchase price was $24.99 and be prepared to pay a LOT for shipping...I have a feeling they pumped up the price a bit to raise $$$ for their preservation society but, rest assured, judging from the appearance of the entire light station, your money is being put to good use...

Spoke with Terry a couple of days ago at the Cabrillo lighthouse, and the price of the LLOM is $24.99, plus $8.90 for shipping.

This is my new collection, too. I have started selling my LE's to leave one less thing for my kids to do after I'm gone. Thanks for posting the number, Mary!

Should you have the opportunity to visit Point Cabrillo you will be treated 1st class by the docent. We,ve been in the fog : which was eerie.

Thanks, Stephanie! I called Pt. Cabrillo today and got #17!!! Sure made me feel better; maybe it was the sob story about not having heard earlier because of no power/internet and not getting to see the posts in the forums. All true but I felt guilty anyway. According to Veronica, with whom I spoke, they could only afford to get 100, so their numbers are all below that. By the way, the price is an even $24.00.

I finally got a chance to call just as they were closing today and will be recieving #34.
I love these LLOM limited editions and we would not have known about this one if it hadn't been for Rock. Thank you very much.
I hope we have not missed any others.

Cyndi,
Good point!! I am now wondering if there is anyway we on the Forums can be made aware of any special LL's or even LE's that are produced for special groups?? Certainly the interest is there by Forum users and it appears that there are many from here who would buy if they knew about them!! I know I did and would!!

I know I would buy any of the special edition LLOM if I know they are available.
Point Cabrillo's phone started ringing off the hook as soon as we all found out about this special LLOM.

I'm not a fan of the LLOMs and never have been...the only reason I bought Cabrillo is because it's a LE...after all these years, I still think HL should dump the GLOWS and the LLOMS and the ships and the mugs and shrink the LEs down to half their size...

Rock,

I agree with you on the GLOWS. there isn't that much difference in size OR price between the LE's and the GLOW'S to warrant two different lines. IMHO.

But I do like the LLOM's. They give buyers who either can't afford the LE's or don't have room for the LE's an opportunity to have a Lighthouse Collection. They are also a better option for those who don't want a collection to have a memento of a Lighthouse that they have seen.

As for the ships, I like them, however I think that they should be keep to Lightships only.

All the above is just my Opinion, and may not suite the opinion of others!
