That is nice!
It is truly odd that a lighthouse enthusiast such as myself would live in one of the only 3 states east of the Mississippi that does not have a lighthouse. Go figure. :p

I told Harry in an email with a link to this thread, that I not only love the sculpture but I love the house itself. I would love to own it and live in it. It looks majestic sitting on the hillside... Point San Luis Obispo Lighthouse Society

A little bird told me that someone from the San Luis Obispo was critical of some of the details. Maybe not perfect. But you will recall that almost every Harbour Lights has some intentional 'error' on it as a proof of copyright violation when someone copies it too perfectly. Might be that the windows below the tower are not 4 over 6 but 6 over 6 for example. Never so glaring like a six-sided lighthouse instead of an eight-sided one.

Well I'm from the San Luis Obispo area, and I have worked on refurbishing of the Lighthouse in the years past. And I think its a very very good detail of the actual Lighthouse. Harbour Lights really out did themselves with this piece.

The pictures of the actual lighthouse show 4 over 6 on the windows on the tower, but I did notice something on the sculpture that doesn't quite jive with the pictures I have seen of the real lighthouse. I haven't talked to Harry about it yet. I will be interested in what time period it is based on since there have been some changes over the years.

Great pics Paul !!!
I don't think there is 6 over 4 window. I think Harry has it right!

Photo by Dave H Dave sent me some other images he shot of the lighthouse so I could compare the different sides to the sculpture.. One of the things I questioned was the windows going all the way to the floor on the side porch, since the older images of the lighthouse on the San Luis website didn't show that. But it shows that they in fact do in the above image..

Actually those are window "doors" They slid up into the wall over head and form a 6" or so high opening out onto the porch. They docents were very proud that the restoration work had had made them functional.

Dave mentioned that to me when we talked about him having other images, I forgot to include that in my post, thanks Eric for posting that info. Dave said the docents pointed that out to them when they toured the light, proud was the term Dave used, also.
