Anyone else get an orange notice card from HL in the mail recently? Mine said that, due to a shipping error, lower-numbered member pieces (Ft. Point #1 - 2500 and East Brother #1 - 1500) won't be shipping out until June and July.

The bad news is it got delayed. The good news is I got a postcard and therefore a low number.

Well, just like last year I called in and renewed on March 1st. Apparently just as they did last year, they managed to screw it up. Last year I ended up with a number in the middle 4 digit range. No post card here which tells me they didn't give me a number in the first 2500 (even though my dealer's autoship is in the 800s). Also I received notice today that they finally charged my credit card. To say the least, I am completely unimpressed with how customer service operates the past year or so. . . . . . . .

I am getting confused here. Are you guys renewing your membership annually? I've been renewing for three years at a time. Is it maybe possible that if you renew for only one year at a time you don't get as low a number as if you renew every three years????

I got a card on Saturday I think. Maybe they're still being mailed out?

Like Dave, I received an email yesterday that my credit card was charged for my membership for the upcoming year. I'm supposed to get my autoship number but maybe that won't happen. Time will tell.

Mombo,
You are correct about renewals for multiple years implies lower numbers. That is what I was told about renewing mine for this year (I had forgotten that last year I renewed for two). I was hoping it would arrive for the Bill signing event on May 3rd, but that was whistling in the dark. Now I have to wait until much later in the year.

Well, it still doesn't make sense to me. You would think that a "Member Since -- -- --" date should get priority on lower numbers regardless of whether you chose to renew annually or for a longer period. Of course that would apply only to those who "call in" to order their pieces rather than wait for a form in the mail, etc. A few years ago some of us got a tip that if you called in on or about March 1st you could get a low number. Now begining last year HL decided to try to match the Society Pieces' numbers to a person's autoship number which further complicates the process.

As to the gift lighthouse my numbers have gone down then up then down and up again regardless of whatever pains I've taken to try to get a lower number on the full sized piece.

Soooo, I guess they best way to try to get low numbered Society Pieces is:

1. Commit to buy all limited HL's on an autoship
basis from a dealer that has a low number
available.

And:

2. Call HL early (March 1 or thereabouts) and
request your autoship number for the Society
Pieces.

If we aren't willing to do these things, we will probably be stuck with whatever number HL decides to give us.

I called HL and what I understood the Customer Svc rep to say was that they give first priority to those members that renew for multiple years, since they have already paid, they are first in line. She said that since I only renew year to year, my mbrship pc. would be numbered higher than multiple yr renewers. But if I multi-renew next year, I am still not guaranteed anything because it is first come.... confused Maybe if I renew for 3 yrs, then the second year I could move up in the ranks?

I did not ask if being on autoship made any difference.

Oddly enough, yesterday's e-mail contained a billing of $5.31 from HL. My reply asked them what exactly did I buy? The response was that it was a system mistaken charge for shipping membership pieces to multi-year members and would not be charged. Good news - the light is in the mail. Bad news - something at HL seems to be screwed up. Also news - now we know exactly how much shipping should cost. This happen to anyone else?

So, if I did not get the card, does that mean my # on both of these pieces will be greater than 2500 and 1500? I renewed on March 1st hoping to get a triple digit! frown

I got an email with UPS tracking info for a package coming from Harbour Lights via the ground service. The weight on the package is 1.1 pounds. I'm on a double-digit autoship.

Could this mean the Society package is on the way? If it does, does it mean I will not be receiving my regular autoship #?

Time will tell...

I received the same UPS information. But the information stated the package had not shipped yet. I also received the orange card. I also received information about my Golden Gate by e-mail twice.I just hope they don't charge my credit card twice! I am glad to see that Harbour Lights has everything well under control. laugh

Received Fort Point #6929 today. Strangely, I found a Michigan City Ornament in the bottom of the box as well.

Someone in Sayville NY also got the membership pieces including East Brother as all the pcs were listed separately on Ebay this AM. (Sorry can't provide the link, still haven't figured that stuff out! I am Java script challenged I guess.)

And this makes my 200th post smile I'm getting to Super Wacko slowly but surely.

According to the tracking info I should be getting a 6 lb package today or tomorrow. It may be my Ggate or members piece. I'll be happy either way laugh

Interesting .........

(Here's my story)

First of all, I never received the orange card like I thought I was going to.

Second, I received 2 emails, one from HL and one from UPS approximately 2 weeks ago.

Third, UPS arrives in Maine today with package. Sure enough, Fort Point "without" my low number. (No surprise here as we knew the factory screwed up and notifications cards were sent out even though I didn't receive one.) I Notified HLs of this "red flag" that a mistake in being made at warehoue with shipping membership pieces to people that should be waiting this end of June of July for low number pieces.

Fourth, the Fort Point membership box also came with a hiding surprise as reporting by others. A Michigan City 2002 Christmas ornament. Must have been left overs from 2002 or someone in shipping is soon going to get in trouble.....(hee hee)

The real question is, and I have been assured by HL reps, whether or not that my low number Fort Point membership piece will be coming at the expected time of delivery near the end of June or begining of July. We'll see........

If you requested your low number on your membership pieces and you didn't get an orange card and received email notifications lately, I would check with HL with you order status cause we all know that the low numbers have NOT shipped.

Hi Chris, ...Looks like we are in the same boat. My Membership package arrived yesterday with #10092. My autoship is #23. I never received an orange card about a delay.

The Fort Point HL is a nice piece and getting a free Christmas ornie is also a very nice gesture on HL's behalf. I must admit I'm a little disappointed on not getting my autoship number, especially since Harbour Lights called earlier in the year and asked if I would be interested in receiving my autoship number on the membership pieces. Maybe that is for East Brothers. Maybe I dreamt I received the call. Maybe I'm not really typing this reply to your reply.

Oh well, I guess you can't go wrong for $30...

 Bob

I have not received a card yet and have had my charge billed for the membership piece about a week ago so I figured I had better call since Harbour Lights has it on record that I want my autoship number that is in the 500's. I called them yesterday and was assured for the 2nd time that even though no card it was in the computer for me to get both pieces with my autoship number. If I should get some off the wall high number I will contact them and have them send the number that is in their computer. If I were you guys I would surely call on Monday and set this up with them.

Hey Bob, I beat you by 22 numbers! My piece arrived Thursday and much to my surprise, the number was 10070! I couldn't believe I got such a high number. I, at one time had a registration number below 700. I don't know what happened! It's a very nice piece, but what's up with these high numbers!

Hope my East Brother is my auto ship which is a two digit! They said it would be!!!

I understand this as being another small glitch as I was told that a few (unknown number) membership pieces were shipped out to the members unintentionally which are on-hold for their low number pieces (well, at least in the HL computer system). HL was hoping to catch these before they left the warehouse, but I guess they shipped anyhow.

Regarding your low number in the membership Fort Point gift piece, I was assured that you (or I) would be getting one of these as well to match your East Brother membership piece. So..... someone is "eating" for a mistake that shouldn't have happened.

PS: About the emails coming from HL, did anyone get 2 emails indicating that their credit cards are being charged? There are some real "screwy" things going on..... But they are aware of the situation and are working on it .

Time to make a call and be sure ......

Received my membership today, in the 8100 range. I wasn't expecting a lower number like many of you that became members many moons ago. My previous mbrship pcs have only been as low as in the 6000's and as high as the 8600's. I currently only renew from year to year and am not an "autoship".

Also enclosed was a Tybee Island ornament.
