I thought the East Quoddy christmas piece was a well sculpted piece that looks much better in person than the pictures show. The detail is very good as is the standard for Harbour Lights, the boat house with the rail for launching a life boat is a great touch (like Goat Island), I think the one problem with it that the lighthouse and other buildings are painted white (red stripes on tower) except the roofs which are red, and the then add snow to some of the buildings, roofs and grounds and you have a boatload of white paint with little to contrast with. I think this is why the pictures don't do the piece justice also.

The disclaimer: I like the piece ! I am not putting it down because of the paint job, I think it might have been a better candidate for a spring, summer, or fall setting. I will be buying the piece.

I've been waiting for this piece for a long time. To date, this is the finest christmas piece Harbour Lights has produced. If you haven't visited this lighthouse in person, its well worth the trip. Be careful though, the rungs on the ladder, and the rocks are slippery.

I agree with my friend with the t, it's the best christmas piece yet. There is just enough snow and great detail on the light. Can't wait to get it home.

I totally agree with both JJ's. It is very, very, very, nice and three "very's" are worth more than merely one Wow. I have wanted it made since I bought my first Harbour Lights and started sending in the registration cards and filling in what lighthouses I want to see made on the cards. Then when I finally made it to East Quoddy last year in person, like Jim (t), I really wanted it done, and done well. Harbour Lights has done it very well indeed. I hope that I am a tougher judge of how well they made it, after going to the lighthouse, but it could be I am looking at it with rose colored glasses. Naw, I just checked my glasses, they aren't rose colored and the HL East Quoddy lighthouse is , as Tony would say, GGGGGGGGreat!

The best Christmas piece by far is Big Bay Point. Why? Because it LOOKS LIKE A CHRISTMAS PIECE.

The garland around the doorways and the snowman in the yard perfectly capture the holiday spirit. Colchester only had a tiny wreath by the door (better than nothing), White Shoal has nothing except a candystriped tower (I don't think the architects of White Shoal gave it that color scheme because it was Christmasy), and Old Field Point could have been much more festive.

Big Bay gives off the vibes of Christmas wonderfully. The rest...well, the rest have snow on them. Beautiful pieces, one and all, but not Christmas pieces. I fear that East Quoddy will fall into the same boat...so to speak.

PS---Next year they should do WEST Quoddy as a Christmas piece. Not only is the tower perfect, but the house could be decorated nicely, too (we might even see a return of the snowman).

Not only has the snowman returned but also snow angels are present on the East Quoddy piece. The tower already has a big red ribbon wrapped around it which forms a cross.

The East Quoddy piece is very nice, but I think that the best Christmas piece is Old Field Point, NY. It has such a Christmas feel and to see the Douglas Fir's covered in snow brings back so many memories of growing up on Long Island.

Besides, Sean they have already done West Quoddy as a Christmas piece for this year. It is one of the 4 new ornaments. The picture will be up soon at the HL website.

I'm inclined to Bill H.'s view - Big Bay is *the* archtype Christmas Lighthouse. I easily rank the White Shoal candycane as number two.

In certain circles favorable remarks about the large tree on Old Field Point are considered heretical. In the immortal words of Bob Younger (rest his soul) "The fake fir is a poser". Not to worry though, BoB's bark was always better than his blight.

Here's another view for those of you (like me) who've never been there.
